Is there anyone over 55 who didn't have an Airfix 'Spitfire' in their bedroom?...

(That's a model plane Cerny, not a model!)

I remember how exciting and dangerous the country felt (to me anyway) in '81, when all the shops were boarded up in West Drayton due to the rumours of copy cat riots happening during that summer......and then 'The Specials' released 'Ghost Town'.......
    SUPERB :)

Looking back the '70's were probably the last years of freedom before the state woke up and using technology clamped down on all of us. Really miss the optimism of those years when a better world seemed just around the corner, there were no worries about catching something fatal by shagging around and it was possible to make a living by working hard. No credit cards, no credit checks, no crash helmets, no computers to speak of and a lot of freedom. Remember getting stopped with no licence, no tax, no insurance driving a Ford Taunus 12M with the old oval german export plates and a written off registration book and let go on my way by the traffic police. Great times.

I was thinking about those Col, and though it must have been crap for our parents, especially queuing for petrol and candles and not knowing when/if it was going to end, personally the only bind was no telly and having more time to push my younger brothers around.

1972 in the days before the UK joined the EU... And to think some nutters want to to go back there.

Edit: http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2013/mar/15/dwp-law-change-jobseekers-poundland Use of retroactive legislation AKA "Ex post facto law", illegal and unconstitutional in 90% plus of the world's countries. Also in clear breach of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and European Human Rights Law.

    Shame on that twat Milliband.

Did anyone on here ever mastermind 'Flight Deck?'

A bit of an Anna Kournikova that game. Looked good but was evidently useless.

1974 mate. Coal miner strikes limited the amount of electricity that could be used, so the government introduced a 3 day working week to limit consumption.
In 1978/9 we had the winter of discontent, when there were loads of strikes and rubbish piled up in the streets.
