Mike Ashley wont offer Barton a 5 year extension on his contract, the fat **** will only offer him a 2 year extension.

It really ****ing frustrates me, how on earth a billionaire businessman like Ashley, as fat as he ****ing his, to make a decision like this. One of the best, inform midfielders in the premier league, wants to sign for Newcastle United for the rest of his life!!

How often is it that we find a bloke as good, determined, hard working, passionate and one that loves the toon so much? And when we find one, the club treats him like ****. The bloke is accepted a pay cut in order to stay for gods sake!!!

YOU FAT ****, GIVE HIM A 5 YEAR CONTRACT NOW!!:mad::mad::mad:

Calm down for ****s sake, what is wrong with you man. You realise a 5 year EXTENSION would be 6 and a half years? He has a year and a half left. 2 year extension is 3 and a half years total.

Why would he replace an 18 month contract with a 24 month one?

I'm not supporting the decision, I'd much rather see Barton tied up...But from a business point of view (Ashley's only view) it does make sense to an extent:

Barton is, as you said, in the form of his life! While he is playing at this level he is international standard, and value for money, but he's what, 27? 5 years takes him to 32...Now although I'm confident he'll still be a cracking player (set pieces and an eye for a ball never goes) to say he will be able to jusify those reported 50k wages at the age of the 32, is maybe a little ambitious.

So, keep him on 50k for the next 3 n 1/2 years, then renegotiate (either add on more years on 50k if he deserves it) or add on more years for lower wages if our/his situation changes.

I know it's not nice, and doesn't show much respect, but in business terms it makes a fair amount of sense!

So Barton would be 31/32 by the end of the contract if he extended it by 2 years. I fail to see why you are so pissed off. If Barton is still performing well, it would be easy enough to offer him even longer then!

Unless you want a 35 year old Barton playing, no certainty he will last like Scholes and Giggs have, or if he will even want to. Plus a 5 year extension is something like 20mil cost, might as well extend the current deal by 2 years then with the option of another year and the further option of another year if he is still hacking it.

This seems like a fair decision to me. The extension will take him over 30 and into the last few years of his playing career, so none of us know how he will perform by then. There are some players who are still working well at that age, but there are also many who can't keep up by then. We won't know until he gets to that age.

I'm surprised Barton doesn't want that contract. It gives him an easy escape route if the club goes downhill as it isn't tied to us for 6 more years. Plus, if he's still performing very well by the time his current contract is up, then he will probably be given another one.

I'm with everybody else on this like, this seems the best way - what if he did an Owen and got crocked for a season or more, I'd wager that would be Ashleys mistake for giving him a 5 year contract and yet more money ran straight down the ****ter from the club. Can't win either way with some people like.

Wasn't this reported in the News of the World.... the f-ing NEWS OF THE WORLD. Come on, you need a slap if you believe what they print about us.

Why not see whether or not is fact before you go off on one? You just look stupid otherwise.

What's this and article with expletives a plenty in the title??????

That can only mean one thing, the Tash is in a fettle about something and has his ranting head on!!!!!!

Come back when you find a reliable source mate, I saw the headline yesterday and the source was some ****ty Goals now or something site. Until it's in the Chronical et al. then I won't belive it.

Come on guys, cut BT a bit of ******* slack here. If Barton goes it means he'll (BT) have to change his ******* user name! How the **** would you like to have to change your ******* user name just because the bit fat ******* **** won't ******* well give Barton a ******* 5 year deal?

Hi Sid, BT want's a transfer to Sunderland because the Pieman won't give his namesake a 5 year contract. How much will it cost us for you to take him?

Well, AB, we'd have to take a vote on taking Tash (keeping the board democratic, like), but I suspect a couple of crates of ale a week for the length of JB's contract should see us right. As long as Tash cuts out the swearing of course... 'Tis very rude!

2 years might be a little stingy, but 5 years would be far too long. Joey is playing great football for us, but an injury or a slight niggle could potentially cause his form to go down the pan (especially when a player is coming to the later stages of his career).

3 years would make sense, that would tie him over until 2015 (aged 32) and then we can re-negotiate once again closer to that time.

To be honest if I was Ashley I'd be doing the same thing, have we not learned our lessons from having old men in our midfield and getting over run?!

You've got to be ******* joking Sid, you know Tash has to have his ******* little bit of ****** adult talk each ******* day. How the **** would he manage to get through the day without any ******* swearing?

Apart from that a couple of crates of ale a week seems very fair.

We'll have to change his name to RIP Barton's Asterisk, but am looking forward to that ale. Chuck in a few mutton pies while you're at it!
