Well if you don't like it...........! GMI was not hounded. He was disliked because he was so disruptive. He crossed the line and was banned simple. I respect your opinion just think you are wrong!
So it's strictly quantity over quality with you then? People don't want to have this conversation, it's just that some people can't stand to see someone be so ignorant.

Have to add that if he isn't GMI and attempting to get back on the board, he is entitled to his opinion. I appreciate that some do not worship Cortese or Adkins, but I find his criticism over the top. You do not accidently stumble into the Premier League from League 1. Perhaps we are too high for our squad and perhaps NC and NA have made errors, but i doubt it is done with malice, so why the anger.
Actually Fran......I do not regret standing down as a mod. As for the lack of power...I never really considered I had any in the first place.
As for people's opinion that is good for me. I have constantly expressed the view that people should be allowed to express their opinions.
As for the rules of the site......There is one unwritten rule that is not discussed but that should be obvious to all. If you upset enough people with controversy the other site members have every right to ask for you to be removed. Trolling the board looking for recognition by constantly starting controversial threads and saying the same old things is not what the Saints members want. Arguing that it is an opinion will not wash especially as other people's opinion is not acknowledged. Always being controversial is a form of attention seeking and nothing else.

Hurlock was a good player but he was a tough, and at times dirty, player that even in those days used to get into trouble with refs - the way that namby pamby modern football is played Hurlock wouldnt last til half time in any game. So he would be no use to us at all in the present team. You could say the same about quire a few players from previous era's. Jimmy Case was one of my favourite players but Jim would get sent off in many games today - these refs wouldnt even believe his hearing aid stories !
I think a lot of what you are saying is out of pure frustration which i can agree with, how we have so few points is really disheartening and not a true reflection on how we have played. I however do agree with what you say on our transfer policy. We are like the 7/8th highest spenders in Europe! We have spent a lot of money, and a lot on players who don't even start games! This is our first season back, and do not believe that we needed Mayuka, or to some degree Rodriguez, we had areas we needed to improve desperately, and didn't, then other areas, we have over bought, a bit baffling to me. I would much rather have seen the 10m spent of Mayuka and Rodriguez spent on 3 defensive players, as the attackers we had were already fairly plentiful for a first season back.
Adkins has been naive so far, thinking we can outscore teams away from home, like at West Brom, Arsenal, West ham and Everton we set up the complete wrong way, far too offensive and it proved costly, but do you honestly believe that his brave tactics didnt play a part in promotion from the Championship? Teams were overwhelmed by us out scoring them, there was little they could do. In some sense it was great then, but this is the best league in the world and his ideas need modifying to cope with the big guns, something we obviously havnt done ye,t but i still believe that there is time.
With Cork back in the side, and young Shaw playing well, i can see a few victories in the forseeable future, our next batch of games include Norwich, QPR, Reading, Newcastle and Liverpool. If we don't manage to catch up to the teams above after these 6 games, i think adkins has to go, as these are the games we need to win to stay put.

Adkins attacking style got us promoted the last 2 seasons, especially as our lead held us at the top when the wheels came off a bit towards the end of the season. Saints fans love exciting football, so it fitted us perfectly. He may be persisting with this partly from conviction and partly from the fact that our defence is not our strength. I'm sure he feels we are not going to get many one nils (and he would have been right yesterday).

Yoshida looked like a panic buy to me but it did show that he recognised we would need more at the back. We will never really know who was on our wish list so there is little point looking to the past.
Unfortunately he / the board grossly misjudged the situation and we find ourselves constantly fighting losing battles but I applaud Adkins for trying something different and he should be given time to rectify the situation... but he must learn quickly.
Its clear for all to see that his tactics and substitutions have not helped us so far but Adkins remains calm and composed and shoulders the blame. The mark of a good manager.
In recent weeks Adkins has stopped playing J Rod on the left wing, he's dropped S Davis after some poor performances and he's introduced Shaw for Fox. That is definite improvement. If he can get the goalkeeping situation right and start to introduce the right substitutions at the right times. (I.e Mayuka to inject pace in the final 25 minutes or Rodriguez to directly replace Lambert when he is ineffective) then we will continue to improve as a team.
This is a huge month for Southampton, if Adkins gets it wrong, he will be sacked, simple as but let's get behind him while he's here. If we start to win, all of the early question marks will disappear. We will strengthen the defence and I think we will also bring in a Mulumbu type holding midfielder to add further protection to the back line.

Yeah Mulumbu is class but all successful premier league teams have that kind of player so that to me is a priority. If our back line had better protection we would not be in this position.
West Ham got Diame in and he has been excellent for them. Arsenals biggest failure was selling Song to Barca because they don't have that protection anymore and they have suffered.
Tottenham have Sandro, Man City have a plethora of DM options, Newcastle have Tiote, Chelsea have Mikel, Everton have Phil Neville... You get the picture. Schneiderlin is great but he's more a Cabaye than a Tiote if that makes sense.

You're entitled to your opinion, of course, and it is indeed controversial. Try asking yourself why it may be so? It might be because, actually, it is fundamentally inaccurate.
His tactics are pretty much spot on, as is - mostly - his team selection. His substitutions are sometimes off, but then what manager hasn't made a poor sub every now and again?
I think you're over the top and would very much like to have a chat with you in the King Alfred prior to the next home game, so that I can dissuade you from this frankly odd viewpoint that you are inhabiting.

I think it is a shame that a new poster cannot come on here and not be accused of being a complete Troll, and someone who's been subject to a temporary ban, to boot!

In any case, reregistering under a new username would indicate a complete lack of respect for the moderation on here and would only lead to a total ban.
My advice to any member who has been banned would be to serve their time and then come back and observe the site rules. Alternatively, you can spend your time making a few quick post before being banned.
