The table never lies, there is no solace in the fact we try and play the game the right way if we don't have the players to do it and it gets us relegated, why us it so blindingly obvious this is not the worst premiership side we have ever had? As it stands the facts and table speaks for itself.
Spot on Imps. Individual mistakes are costing us. Even Mrson who is not exactly pro Saints said it was all Saints yesterday. Our luck will turn!
I have been to 4, Fulham, City, Villa and Wigan, why can only people who go to every game comment, or solely absolute Adkins fanatics? I have a life other than football.
He went on to my ignor list after Post 38, please don't use the "reply with quote" function as I don't want to read any more of the trolling.
I didn't say that, I just asked a question to form a view. Why do people get so sensitive about that? Interesting though because I thought we played well in those games. Maybe you are expecting too much.
I expect more because we are a bigger club than we realise, why do others the same size as us seem to do ok and even well and yet we struggle, we struggled without money and we are struggling when we buy, it's depressing and crap, we should demand more, why were we always going to struggle this season and why was this defeatist attitude allowed to take hold in the supporters minds? I look at envy at others who are either smaller clubs than our one or similar in size, Norwich, West Ham, Wigan, West Brom, and Fulham etc, why do we have to accept that every year we shall struggle in this League? We are bigger and better than that and should strive for more than mere survival.
Jimmy we are stiving for more than survival. The plan is to get into Europe. We are ahead of schedule and this season was always going to be tough and a steep learning curve. I'm still confident that if we perform as we did yesterday we will be OK and will kick on from there. his club is going places!
Were you at the game yesterday? A serious question, I'm not being smart. It's just that if you were then surely you must have noticed that we were the better team for much of the game, defended better than we have done all season, and only threw away a hard fought win due to an isolated blunder. Do you really believe this is the weakest side you've ever seen in the Premiership? For most of the 90s we were very average bar one player. I can't imagine how much MLT would love to have played with the group of players we have now.
Ok, say we get relegated and fail to get promoted what then? That's planning to me not this wishy washing thinking, as it stands we are going down and that means we sell our best players, that's the reality.
We aren't going down. If we perform as yesterday we will pick up points. We strengthen the defence in January and push on from there. We are dropping points from individual mistakes not because we are a crap team!
Not quoting you jimmy out of respect for the request above however look at the teams you are envious of and then ask what their goal is. I wouldn't say they are clubs with an ambition to get where Cortese wants us to be. They are clubs that want to be as high as they can but I think even they would be surprised if their chairman stated the goals Cortese has. We are as big as them that is true however we will never achieve those ambitions in the way others have. We do not have and will never have the turnover of Chelsea, Man U, Man City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton or even Aston Villa. they are all global brands and have huge money coming in. We can aspire to do what we want but if we want to achieve the heady heights of top 6 (and not just one season) then we have to produce our own players as we cannot compete in the transfer market in terms of fees and we cannot compete with these teams in terms of salary either. Therefore to compete we have to make use of our main strength and that is having the best academy in England. Might sound silly but we have to continue with the foundations that we are building now if we are to enjoy the fruits in a decade or so and yes that means Adkins is a much better option than any high profile manager who is going to accept the payday whilst preparing his end of season statement of: The Chairman did not support me (meaning not allowed to buy a whole new team on mega wages.) That's why we support Adkins. Because we want the long term vision to be true and not just be like the teams above who are happy just to survive. We had that before, it was great however the chairman has stated his ambition and so we understand that we cannot be scrapping that no in favour of obliterating any chance ever of competing a little higher up.
Get a grip mate, ffs. Do you always look on the dark side? Try showing some belief, you'll find life a lot more comfortable. Maybe we will go down, but we've a long season ahead of us first. We also have a manager and squad who are all on a steep learning curve in a competitive league. Anything can happen, but I sincerely hope no-one in the Saints camp is as negative as you, or we're all f****d.
I'm not so sure we will lose all your best players. Rickie is 30. Wil he jump ship or is he happy with us. Lallana is not going to get into a top 6 side. Can you see him jumping to a Sunderland or Fulham etc? Even then he is not guaranteed to be first team with those sides buying expensive players on big wages. Schneidelin is more likely to go but still might not. Ramirez will go but would that not most likely be the case even if we stay up? Who are these other best players that are going to jump ship? Shaw? JWP? Puncheon? CLyne? Fonte? Who's going to buy them? Cortese will be putting a hefty price on anyone's head if people want to take them even if they put in a transfer request.
You see you want to believe that the team in the late 90's was weak and it was to premiership standards but not on comparison with this team, times have changed but here is a comparison of the 99/00 season, is this fair? You can pick any year you want. Paul Jones Jason Dodd Francis Benali Dean Richards Claus Ludekvam Matt Oakley Hassam Kachloul Jo Tessem Stuart Ripley Marian Pahars Kevin Davis James Beattie Matt LeTissier Wayne Bridge That squad with others would to be crude knock the crap out if this team.
