Warched Mule on Netflix tonight... solid 8 possibly a 9 ... Clint still got it despite the ripe old age of 88 back in 2018.
Yeh I want to watch that but I always end up finding something I want to watch more. It's like the eternal backup film.
Yeh try to see what all this conspiracy stuff is all about.
It's a series, and tonight's one is on the Cold War. Something about it all being started by one bloke or summnt.
Interested to hear what people think are the most underrated films? I.e. hidden gems that didn't get the box office/critic reception they deserved?

I think it did get a lot of plaudits tbf. Everyone I've seen or heard talk about it rates it, and says it's by far Sandler's best performance.
Underrated films hmmm... off the top of my head probably Prometheus. But then it's all subjective I suppose.
I really like Prometheus. Not sure I'd count it as "underrated" though given its international fame and box office of over $400m.
I really enjoy a thoughtful sci-fi. Prometheus opened questions about creation, consciousness, humanity, purpose, emotion yet still managed to be a solid horror film keeping to the spirit of the original films.
Where Covenant went wrong imo is in abandoning most of those deeper themes and just going for straight sci-fi/horror.
Good choice though
Finished The Wire, one of the best series I’ve ever seen, the story lines and script writing were just different class.

A far better title would've been '******s in Space'.
That would explain why you thought it was a good film, though even then it's a stretch as it's so ****ing badly written.
I'm a huge fan of the originals as they really were benchmark moments in the sci-fi horror genre, so I couldn't help but get excited for Ridley Scott's adaptation. I agree, the script is piss poor and there are plot holes a-plenty (although the director's cut plugged a number of them). Like I said, I enjoyed the themes and questions it explored through the character David and his role in the story. Covenant kept the poor script and plot holes but also dropped the philosophy, which is why I think it is far, far worse.
In any event a film grossing $400m doesn't count as 'underrated' or one with a niche cult following.

It's underrated because it was panned by the critics and many people who went to see it at the time.
Heathens like Big Ern
I think they were expecting it to be a direct prequel to Alien which wasn't what the film was supposed to be about except for the last few minutes.
Every time I see that film it gets better and better.
Minority Report is another I think is underrated.
$360m at the box office.
Ok I'll push the boat out a bit....
The Road (2009)
- Depressing as hell but by a country mile the most accurate portrayal of a post-apocalypse earth out there. Nothing else comes close to capturing the raw emotion, desperation and despair such an event would cause.
- Small cast, Viggo Mortensen is colossal in it.
Mr Nobody (2009)
- Made major losses at the box office but swept dozens of Indy festival awards.
- Mind-bending but layers of meaning are added with each viewing. And you'll need multiple viewings to understand what the hell is going on.
- Cinematically stunning and with a superb soundtrack.
- Jared Leto, Diane Kruger and Sarah Polley are immense.
Predestination (2015)
- Tanked at the box office.
- One of the best time-travel films out there imo. I'm generally not a fan of Ethan Hawke but he is so good in this.
