Saw something on the news the other day saying that the ferries up there have been really ****ed up recently, and will get worse as the two new ones are way behind schedule and over budget.
I frequently look at property up on the north western coast, especially when I’m feeling particularly anti social. It’s totally beautiful, and places to live are very cheap. Then I remember the weather. And the broadband (unless Steelsy has fixed it). And the distance to a decent place to eat.
Have you ever been to Stoke?
Yeah, real problems with the ferries. The whole fleet is ancient, and boats are regularly in for maintenance ir fault repairs. The two new ferries are being built in Port Glasgow, just along from where I live and I drive past them most days. The original shipyard went bust, got bought out, then went bust again, and has now been nationalised. There's all sorts of scandal regarding how the contracts were issued (thanks John Swinney and the SNP), and the ferries are massively over budget and years late. I think they are supposed to be "green" ships, but when the tenders went in the technology didn't exist to build them that way - it's a sad state of affairs as locally the shipyards have provided employment for thousands over the years, but it's the last one in operation in Inverclyde, and once these boats sail I'd think they'll close it down and move the trade to Turkey, India or China.
Wrong thread I know, but the SNP are in trouble over a lot of things, it's just such a pity that the alternatives are just so **** (bit similar to the problems you have down there.....)
