Agree Sgt, she’s a beautiful refinement.

Think this will hit the ground running really well.

For everyone’s sake let’s hope Red Bull don’t jump ahead

Well this is it for the championship bar merc so it has to work.

in general if the engine part alone is true then it should be more competitive.

I am not sure however how the powering of the under wing is better than powering the upper floor/ rear of car area most of the field is fully focused on?

    power. Ferrari are talking big.
    weight. who knows?
drag. clear difference in approach taken
stability. Ferrari were quite bouncy but are talking front suspension more than rear. this will imo be crucial.

On that note about comparing with Aston- do you think that looks like it might well be a serious car if we benchmark it against Ferrari and Red Bull concepts? It seems to me that more so than any of the other ‘challengers” to the top 3, the Aston is the one that looks like it’s way more mature as a concept in terms of that hybrid of Ferrari and Red Bull best features.

Basically what I’m saying is that I think the Ferrari looks impressive, yet the Aston seems to have some of its identity along with the Red Bull too- looks like a more detailed version of the McLaren launch IMHO.

    no idea.

the Aston is a merc engine. Once ferrari turned down the engine the merc caught up despite its issues. the first question is whether the engine is competitive.

then weight, drag, stability and downforce come into play.

My concern with the Aston is how good it’s going to be mechanically, they’ve recruited well and developed the tools in the aero area, but I don’t see the same level of progress on the platform side as yet - I’m sure the new factory will help in this area from next year on. As such I expect the performance to be up and down through this year depending on the demands of the track and conditions.

This guy (former Mercedes F1 aerodynamicist) has some interesting videos, and here's his analysis of the Ferrari.

Scarbs also now onto the S-Duct discussion- he reckons several other teams now have an S-Duct solution ready to go and I wonder if this is the thing McLaren realised too late to get to launch which they referred to?

Either way, looks like Ferrari may have nicked a couple of weeks worth of development at least- well done them.

I reckon this car could be very handy out of the blocks.

I wonder what benefit this duct gives the air flow as the video review above call it "sharp" edged and cleaning the air on the outside more than doing a lot for the car on the cooling or for the flow above.

I honestly think the Ferrari looks superb, a proper refinement of what was a very good car last year

ferrari front wing is absolutely covered with vortex inducing fins. they are not sensors they are outwashing fins.

    Thats new.

theres a very very clear line of air flow along where the logos are vistajet to brembo. this looks like a very specific effort to flow some air round to power something

the floor comes up at the end and has a step but the outer floor is basically lacking anything the other teams have which is suggesting some games (can someone explain to them that its a week to race 1 and saving something for a week is no benefit)

I would expect to see more on the outer floor edge here.

also the bypass vent is more visible.

someone needs to get a camera down there quick. its got a horizontal element in there so its quite interesting.

Potentially new floor to test later on for Ferrari.

Sainz started morning well, car already looking more balanced and less bouncing.

They need a major step to be fair. Be interesting to see what they have planned - didn’t they try some bizarre light weight rear wing in Bahrain that was falling off almost?!

The front nose was paper and the rear wing was fluttering.

They are down the wrong path there

Ferrari have some sidepod development and this very interesting floor edge change this weekend.

Very much downplaying it but let’s see if this helps them find their setup window because there is some pace in there somewhere.
