I think he's actually played well most of the season (when he''s actually had a proper run out that is) but he'll always be judged on goals. If he plays crap but bangs in a couple of tap ins then he'll be seen as doing better than playing well, creating chances for others etc.
Ultimately we just really need his extended run in the side to lead to more improved performances AND goals. Goals will lead to even more confidence and hopefully he can get back to his best. If he was missing sitters every game i'd be more worried. The real problem seems to be the failure to give him more than the odd chance here or there.
