I think he's actually played well most of the season (when he''s actually had a proper run out that is) but he'll always be judged on goals. If he plays crap but bangs in a couple of tap ins then he'll be seen as doing better than playing well, creating chances for others etc.

Ultimately we just really need his extended run in the side to lead to more improved performances AND goals. Goals will lead to even more confidence and hopefully he can get back to his best. If he was missing sitters every game i'd be more worried. The real problem seems to be the failure to give him more than the odd chance here or there.

And when it got to squeeky bum time you bottled it. Your side has very little experience of a title run in, lets see how they cope with that. I doubt you'll get as many points in the 2nd half of the season.

    They won't.

    26/2 2011

    Spurs P27 47pts
    Chelsea P26 45pts

    Eight games later
    Chelsea p34 67pts
    Spurs p34 55pts

    Spurs will choke as usual

I also think they will, however, we CANNOT afford to EXPECT them to slip up. We have to aim for the top and stop these silly slip ups and more importantly, beat them when they come to the bridge.

Oh and I hope you boys are right about Torres, it's been proven lately we need a goalscoring striker and not a link up player.

Agree. we win our games and others will drop points.

Third is minimum requirement and acceptable for AVB season 1

I agree, but right now I'd be happy with 4th and a good CL run.

Third for me; and a good Cup run, would love AVB to lift it and give Studge, mata etc a taste of winning silver

I think we can win the FA cup and if Barca or Madrid are knocked out early then who knows about the CL?! Make our signings this month shrewd not stupid <ok>.

    That's more than shrewd mate!

Seriously though, cheeky bid for Ba? If he does have a £10m release clause then why not?!

    Perfect!

If AVB sorts it this current squad is good enough for third, Cup and QF of CL.

But if we lose Studge, Mata or Rambo to bad injuries; we could struggle.

We need another winger/creative... look at United, if they lose Valencia they ahve Nani or Young etc

I agree, we need someone with pace, skill and a cross to die for <ok>. Replacing Anelka is key for me, IMO he was one of our best players and always a threat when he played.

Alex I'm not as bothered about. He made a few slip ups at the beginning of the season and his mind isn't there. He wanted to leave, same with Nico. Cahill isn't a bad replacement aswell!

'arry seemed to suggest it was half that at the weekend!! 5m for a player of his ability is frankly a steal and if true, Newcastle must be ***ting it.

It would be a great bit of business given we have lost Anelka and are almost certain to lose Drogba in the summer. Proven in the P.L and only 26. No brainer.

Though I suspect every single club above Newcastle in the league and even some below will be going in for him if the buy out is true.

If we get Cahill, then Alex (of previous seasons' vintage) may not be missed maybe

The champions league this season has a Chelsea v Madrid final written all over it to be honest, i thought it as soon as man u went out, i expect Mourinho to conquer barca in the semis and us to beat bayern munich, and then the final? who knows, any other manager for us apart from avb vs mourinho i'd say madrid will win easy, but avb v mourinho, now that would be interesting.

Who are you talking about? Drogba was World Class but he's not the player he was two years ago.

We've A LOT to do before we can start even dreaming of the final. Lets deal with Napoli first.
