I'm hearing that the columns at the top end of the towers were maximum 2 inches thick steel hollow sections. Not 12mm granted but still not that thick really.

you are guessing they were completely engulfed in flames, a couple might have been but there was people pictured standing right where the plane crashed so its not like the full top of the building was on fire, even if it was it still wouldnt explain the rest of the building exploding floor by floor
