I'm against the name change.

I think the Allams act like petulant bell ends and have posted such opinions before.

I just don't think it's necessary to drag every thread down the same road.

This thread was highlighting a good piece of journalism that detailed the great work SB has done and should have been left to go down that road.

But no.

If the mods want to clamp down on threads being dragged off topic then some consistency needs to be applied.

In my opinion.

I think Stewey's point was valid, it is just a standard filler article and it is a cause for concern that the media are scared of reporting on the real issue and instead keep telling us we're happy with everything. If someone else had posted it it probably wouldn't have caused such a fuss.

But in any case, the idea that people shouldn't regularly bring up a certain topic, when it's such an important one, on a public messageboard, is nonsense. There are a few on here who obviously don't care either way about the name change which is fine (although I obviously can't understand that) but they seem to want everyone else to stop talking about it to suit their position. That's bollocks.

unlike most other cities, we only have one journalist/newspaper outlet and that's the hull daily mail, i personally despise the ****s even though my sister works for them

if they lost contact, there'd be no local journalists inside the club, but this is why this forum is good and groups like CTWD, they are the main protagainists of getting the anti name change agenda about
 
Buckingham isn't Michael Moore, he's a sports journalist for a local newspaper. He wrote a nicely placed positive piece about our club. He's not running away or scared of the issues, he's just writing an article about the good things that have happened and are happening.

It's not 'nonsense' PLT that some of us aren't completely blinkered by the name change issue, it concerns our club hugely but at the heart of all of this there's a Premier League football club that I enjoy reading about it's successes with a degree of optimism and not have people slap the dark cloud, we're all patently aware of, over every ****ing thread.

There are some threads where I just know it's only worth reading the first 20-25 posts, after that it'll be repetitive bile and Allam hating dogshit.
 
I just love the way that the season ticket sales have dropped, even though no one officially knows, we haven't a sponsor because we have not had a press statement yet.

Saying that HDM are scared of upsetting the club, when CTWD have only got to sneeze and it gets reported, is a joke.
 
I think the hdm are quiet on the rebranding because there's nothing more to be said, it's all been done to death, no new developments, so what's the point?

What do people want them to do? Release the same fecking article each week?

When something develops, they'll report on it, like normal.

No young man you are dead wrong. If this is the "single biggest issue affecting the club" then what are all the other threads on here about and why are so many of us apparently wasting our time discussing them. Why not just call this board "City Till I Die" or "Allams Out" and stop talking about all these other "irrelevant" matters. Will keeping the name "Hull City" as opposed to "Hull Tigers" affect in the slightest bit where we finish in the League or which players we sign or who our Manager is??? Surely if its "the single biggest issue" affecting the club it would???

You and Blampey and those like you who are fixated on this issue are truly "tedious". You keep repeating the same highly debatable arguments over and over and over. Usually something to do with "our heritage and our tradition". Is that, however you define it, suddenly going to disappear over a name change??? Tell me how....be specific. What is there in our clubs past that will no longer be part of our heritage if we become Hull Tigers. Will the great players of our past....the Carters, Chiltons, Wagstaffs etc...be removed from our club records. Will our epic Cup battles with Arsenal and Manchester United in the 30's and 40's fade into oblivion. Tell me where our heritage/tradition will be lost. You only have one answer of course...the name will have changed. Fine. If you no longer wish to support the club...not renew your season tickets...wave your banners in our out of the ground....go ahead.

I'll guarantee you one thing though. The name won't change how well we succeed at the highest level....that will be up to the players, the manager, and the owners. I'll back the latter any day.

Tedious. Do you know how many times I've heard that argument from you lot. Try and be a bit more original and not simply repeat Blampey's talking points. "Bought and paid for" doesn't cut it any more.
 
Its not the fact we don't care about the namechange, its the fact that we'd like to be able to discuss some things that are evidently not about the name change without it being dragged in.

The new badge for instance, yeah, we all know what its doing, fine, lets discuss it. Its the stuff like this article, praising Bruce and hyping up the season ahead when suddenly its 'avoiding the real issue' and 'a smokescreen.'

It is a big topic, but its not the only topic. Not everything to do with it is to do with the Allams **** running of the club. The team itself, the performances, the boss, the lads can be dicussed without mentioning Allam taking the soul out of the club, or the general disillusionment of the fans who get bored of the namechange being brought up.

I on't see what everyone is opposing to by having a new thread devoted to it, it'd just make it easier for everyone to get on with their lives without THIS EXACT CONVERSATION AND THIS EXACT POST HAPPENING ALL THE TIME.

An excellent post. It will fall on deaf ears with our mods as it doesnt fit their agenda. They are supposed to be impartial mind but that doesnt matter it seems. Its circular you see.
 
This thread seems quite a typical example of a few on here. The posts complaining about name change comments disrupting threads tend to disrupt more threads and express more opinion on the name change than the ones they complain at.

Comments about 'mods agendas' are laughable and paranoid.

Physicians heel thyself.
 
Which post disrupted this thread first DMD? Is there one football thread on this board which does not generate into the same topic, and can someone enlighten me on what Mods do apart from ensure no liable/bad language or politics is allowed. Some posters just want a discussion about the new season - how well the team will do both in the PL and Europe, can we please be allowed that without it descending into the same topic as every other thread

The first disruptive post depends on your view point. Someone expressed an opinion on the article, others laboured that point. Had they ignored it, it would have gone no further.

It's not a case of what mods want, it's not our board, we go with the spirit of the board and its users, but bear in mind, most board users don't post.

Most threads running on the current first page make no mention of the name change. This one has more complaining about name change comments, with those complaining tending to make the most name change comments.

You're perfectly entitled to discuss what you like, but unless it's clearly off topic, I'm not going to stop a discussion be it pro or con.

Forgive me but isn't that how this should work? A thread has a topic title for a reason. Why not have just one big fat **** off thread where we discuss everything?

If I was terminally ill, I'd want the odd nice day out here and there without someone saying "still gonna die though eh?" to me throughout the day.

That would empty the board in weeks. Again, the bulk of threads make no mention of the name change. Of those that do, the name change tends to have a relevance, and posts complaining of name change posts disrupt more than the name change posts themselves.

Instead of posting their opinion on the name change and then expecting/wanting no reply, perhaps people could just PM a mod with a link and we'll have a look? The alternative is threads full of posts commeting on drift.
