That's surely bullshit from you. Trippier cost us a fair few goals last season his defending was extremely poor in lots of games. Yet you give your stick to Winks who has not done such things. Now Atletico are better than us. Are they? I don't think anything except how do you make your judgement as we have not played them.
About three seasons ago, they did win the Europa League and Super Cup in 2018 though, been runner up the past two seasons in La Liga and generally have one of the best built sides in Europe, this even after the losses of Godin and Griezmann.
OK DH you certainly know more about the European game than I do but I do think we have to play them to see how good they are. Different leagues and paper quality is not the same. Look at United for example with all their expensive players and yet the product does not live up to the hype.
Playing them in a one off wouldn’t determine anything.
We beat City over two legs in the CL last season but that doesn’t mean we’re better. Barca, Bayern, PSG and Real never made the CL Final but are we better than them? No.
Atleti - and those mentioned - have shown far better consistency levels than we have. That’s nothing to be ashamed of, they’re all great sides, it’s that level we’re trying to reach and beyond but we’re not there just yet.
