My favourite player of that period was John Duncan, even though someone suggested he played in wellington boots. Ian Moores....forgot about him.Bloody awful!
Alfie Conn was great to watch.A dribbler of the old school.
Terry Neill was a name to forget but we got lucky with Keith B although he had walked into the club after most of our players had got old together and he had to bring in the young'uns!.....and a little later he took a trip to Argentina..........!

Weren't Conn and Duncan out injured for most of that season? I think Jonah played a lot of it and I have recollections of seeing a fair bit of Ian Moores, too. I'm not entirely sure but Keith Osgood was top scorer with 6 goals for a major part of the season, wasn't he?

We went down bottom of the table with minimal fight from most. Still, the next season was a lot of fun and apart from Big Pat's departure, The Honey Monster and then Osgood and the increasingly injured Alfie Conn, we kept our best players the next season. Imagine keeping the likes of Stevie P, Glenn Hoddle and Peter Taylor after being relegated from the PL?
I've seen a couple more from that season now, and Gerry Armstrong and Chris Jones were the forwards to step in. It was also Hoddle's first season and naturally he was nothing like the player he became. Our injury woes seem to also be in defence. I've twice seen Pratt at right back with Naylor across in the centre.

Pratt,I thought, lived up to his name but the dear boy did try by covering every blade of grass and passing to the opposition quite a lot!

I sat next to John Pratt at Wembley on Saturday.

The guy was wearing a ridiculous Frank Spencer like tank top sleeveless jumper. In that heat <doh>.

I'd like to see Wenger (and certain others) at a place like Rochdale or MKDons......with no money!
