...and now we have an interview with Lewis Holtby https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jun/19/lewis-holtby-blackburn-championship-interview
Keiran Trippier said in interview today that the NLD was the big one for the fans but most of the players thought that the other team from Fulham was the big one Personally I remember when the Arsenal game in the 60s and 70s was an even matched affair but I had a very begrudging respect for the way Wenger and the club went about their business in those years , the big one for me is the Chavs ,from the time they found a few Bob down the back of the sofa I have loathed them and the way they have gone about their business. Totally classless As for that lot in the council stadium in Stratford they are the yappy mutt that will not **** off no matter how many times you kick it in the balls Is Tripps correct ?
Trippier's also slagged us off for selling Dembele The fact that Dembele has gone on record saying he went to Poch and practically begged for a move to a less physically demanding league as his body couldn't handle the Premier League anymore somehow didn't get communicated to him...or maybe it did, but he ignored it and blamed somebody else for it, which was a pattern of a lot of his play last season
For me, it’s an interesting one. I dislike Arsenal, and I’m fully aware of the history between the clubs. It’s a massive rivalry. But on a personal level, I grew up near Chelsea’s training ground, and had to endure a load of ‘fans’ when I was growing up and they’d come into money. I’ve never met a Chelsea fan I like. It’s the one club where if I meet someone my age who claims to support them, I instantly judge them. The Chelsea games are massive, it’s a clash of ideologies as much as it is a clash of rivals. There’s an edge to an NLD of course, and it’s a horrible game to watch as a Spurs fan. But the venom you see in a Spurs/Chelsea game goes above and beyond IMO, both on and off the pitch. Ultimately I dislike Arsenal intensely and it’s definitely our main derby. But you can, begrudgingly, respect them. With Chelsea, it goes beyond a pure rivalry and descends into something more vicious. It may have something to do with the rise of the internet, and how certain fans interact over social media as well. You think of the Battle of the Bridge as a prime example of this, or at least I do. We’ve always been rivals with Arsenal, and always will be. But the Chelsea rivalry has been accelerated and amplified by what goes on off the pitch nowadays as well as a rivalry on it.
lose to anyone and it's . lose to West Ham and it's lose to Chelsea or liverpool and it's a **** day lose to Arsenal and the world has ended.
It's always Arsenal for me, don't get me wrong the 2-0 win at WHL the season after the "Battle at the Bridge" was a special night and one that meant a lot but beating or losing to Arsenal is always what can bring me the most joy or most anger after a football match. I have a similar take as RCL. The easiest way I can explain it is: Arsenal is our final. Chelsea is our semi final. West Ham is our quarter final. They're the first three fixtures I look for at the start of the season and the three (six) games I get most excited for. On a bit of a personal scale, Stoke and Man City are games I take an added interest in too. Stoke and their fans are just a bunch of ****s. City's fans have developed some egotistical prick of an attitude since Sheikh Mansour came along. Our games in recent years have been quite heated too, so much to the point I'd probably say it's the next biggest game after our London Derby matches. Was very sweet beating them this season, especially as it was also a "Jose vs Pep" match too, which also happened to give birth to this beauty: please log in to view this image
Yeah I certainly get a lot of that. Don’t get me wrong Arsenal is still the big one. But perhaps also due to personal stuff I just really dislike Chelsea and their fans. More so perhaps than the average Spurs fan. Arsenal is our biggest game but I never really knew any Arsenal fans growing up, nearly all the kids were Chelsea with a smattering of Liverpool and United glory hunters and one or two Fulham or West Ham fans who thought they were being different. So Chelsea was always the most significant game for playground bragging rights, even though Arsenal meant more to me myself. Don’t care much for either Stoke or City but certainly wouldn’t call them a rivalry. Stoke fans are so vile it’s almost funny, to be fair. Don’t think I’ve ever met a City fan
