The one item I regret parting with was a 1901 newspaper with a report of our historic non-league Cup Final win with, IIRC, a grainy photograph.
Your collection sounds amazing Smithy, I would love to have seen the wartime ones. I remember the handbooks which we bought every season for a shilling! Do they still do them I wonder? The ads in the old 1901 paper were fascinating, lovely big houses for sale for what seems next to nothing now & nice places to rent for a couple of bob! Its nice looking back over the old stuff now & then and I'm glad you've found a home for yours Smithy. The only thing I wouldn't part with now is my scrapbooks! The memories in them is too precious! (started in 1960) but I don't mind parting with programmes if any one wants some. Mainly '80s. I've just read through this & its a bit rambling <sorry> lockdown syndrome <laugh>
Ramble on Maggie, I love to hear about your era , it reminds me so much of my dad and his mates , they brought an old Bedford van between them in 1959 and travelled to home and away games in it , didn't miss a league or cup game and many European games until the mid 60s

My scrapbooks started in 1953 but I did find cuttings from earlier seasons. I remember taking my first scrapbook to the ground and getting some signed by Ted,Len,Charlie Withers Colin Brittan ,Tommy Harmer and many others, including reserves and my favourite, then,George Robb.
Like you,Maggie, one does like to reminise!
Ernie the groundsman used to enjoy himself telling us to buzz off.....and not many players had a car, then. I do remember Arthur Rowe and his nice little Austin car.
Arthur Rowe did sign a cutting in my book of him,in his playing days, leading out the team. He said he was surprised to see that picture, but signed it for me.
Don't know if kids today bother about Spurs autographs as we did. We didn't have much to do in those days......and today, the stadium is probably like Fort Knox!...and kids have lots more to do (I suppose!!!?).

Smithy, the training ground is out on White webbs Lane near the back of Caple Manor college gardens if you remember that and not easy to get to for the youngsters but if you go past weekday mornings there are always groups of southeast Asians waiting for Sonny to show , it amazes me how those kids find the place or get there for the selfies and autographs

Actually,I did not know that. They seem to have had so many since they shamefully got rid of Brookfield Lane.

I remember taking my first car,a 1960 Hillman Minx,to a Spurs away match and puncturing onthe way back on the M1. Coach load after coach load were yelling at me some very uncomplementary comments as I replaced my tyre!
Another time, with the same car, I had parked near the Birmingham ground and needed water for my radiator.I knocked on some doors and was shouted at with fists waving. It was an Asian area,so I jumped back in the car and found a garage.
I found taking the train was much healthier!

I’m posting this as a bit of an ego thing because I set this deal up..... Des Bulpin, who was a coach with us in the Gerry Francis days, has been appointed as new manager at Wessex League side Shaftesbury FC.

I have a daughter & her family living in Shaftesbury, Dorset. Lovely part of the world. Famous of course for Gold Hill, scene of the nostalgic Hovis advert. Good luck to him & Shaftesbury FC <ok>

I still have visions of Pat "losing it" against dirty Leeds and trying to kick one of their players out of the ground. Great moment in sport!!!!!
