Sorting out in the loft of my late father in laws house came across this wrapped around some old wine glasses, Chiv was my first 'favourite' player following his 2 goals that won the league cup in 71. and his photo immediately took my eye as I opened the box. I spent almost as much time reading bits from the various papers as I did actually sorting stuff out!
That reminds me. I still have thick books with cuttings from the 40's til the 80's.All stuck away in my bookcases.....to go with autobiographies of footballers, year books,programmes,annuals……..HELP!
Good article reflecting on Andy Turner's career. Poor git had some bad luck with injuries. https://www.the42.ie/andy-turner-4912358-Dec2019/
Sol Campbell: Former Macclesfield boss backs winding-up petition against club https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50657701 Despite being the only club to give him a manager's job, apparently, they owed him £180k, he doesn't need. Never was a song more deserved...
How long was he there for? What on earth were they paying him? Ridiculous. Top salary for a League Two club on 3,000 gates is £50k per annum.
I'm guessing that he was on a big bonus to keep them up, which in fairness, he did. However, the experience was probably payment enough and he's a **** for enforcing his rights against them, given their financial position and his.
Yeah for a man who must understand that the public perception of him being a massive ****er (and his levels of experience) is what is stopping him getting higher profile jobs, this is surely not the hill to die on. The kinder and frankly more sensible thing to do would be to publicly waive his bonus rights, if that is what the issue is, while highlighting again his achievements in the job.
