Although I have moved on mentally, I still don't understand....why would Everton offer such top money for Koeman. They offered the kind of money that no treacherous person could resist. I can only assume they have their version of the black box (let's call it the blue box) which has told them that he is the one and no one else will do....so they went for the kill. Complete mystery.

To be fair they were paying Moyes around £4.5m per year, and a lot of Everton fans have said Martinez was on more than that. Apparently Kenwright feels that no one should earn more than the manager.

I bet they don't spend much less than £70m though. This talk of disagreement over the budget is either Koeman wanting silly money or a sidetrack because he didn't want to finalise the contract.

I'd be surprised to see us spend £70m, I'm talking net spend here so on top of whatever we get for Wanyama and any other sales.

Interesting to read the released players list, Everton have released 5 more first team squad players - Gibson, Hibbert, Pienaar, Mattioni and Osman plus they had already released keeper Tim Howard. This £100m is being stretched a little far bearing in mind they had a relatively small squad like us

That's a giant pile of wages off the books though, and those five outfield players combined for just 620 minutes...since he's the universal measure of small sums, together they played less than 60% as much as Cuco Martina. Probably won't need to do much to replace them.

That's what I said earlier...Everton need to spend more than us because of their squad. £100 mill is about 7 players @ 15 million each with wages on top. I reckon he will have to spend more than that as prices will go up. Considering what they are offering Koeman, their new owner will probably throw silly money at players to get the ones he wants....let's hope they aren't after the same players as us.
