An interesting thought - who do you all think is the best British manager in football currently?

(In or out of a job, regardless of whether you want them for Saints)

I wouldn't want him because I don't think he's right for what we need, but I've never hidden my admiration for Steve Bruce. I'd put him up there. But Howe has the potential to blow away the competition.

If that Van Dijk tweet thing is true. It reads to me that he feels deeply let down by Koeman.

He is not the only one either...........just doesn't fit in with RK's previous character. I would like to have been a fly on the wall at the last meeting between RK and the board. One question though........has anyone thought that Saints themselves might want to get rid of RK for some reason??????

Not one of the usual names, but Hein Vanhaezebrouck would be an interesting one from what I have read on him. Enjoying huge success at Gent based upon motivation, high work rate and tactical nous. Has worked well at his club before Gent where he had to sell his best players and rebuild frequently as well. He could also bring Depoitre and Kums with him. Downside is that he's never worked outside Belgium.

Plus he'd have the longest name of any Saints manager in history....not too sure how his song would go though

Sound more like a target from on of our last two manager recruitment rounds based on where we were then vs. now

It is starting to shape up that if it is not Emery then people (including myself) will be disappointed as he seems the stand out candidate right now. Need to try and change that mindset because he will have several offers and I would suggest is the longest shot of all of them

That said if we got him the Everton fans would be furious at the development (which is another reason why I think it will not happen - doesn't fully add up)

I think there a several reasons why Saints might have potentially wanted rid, some I am sure have been mentioned:
- Not playing enough academy players
- Disruption in the academy (potentially linked to the above)
- Management style upsetting some players (I think Tadic and Pelle were mentioned)
- Refusal to sign a new deal / commit to more than 1 yearand oversee a full plan plus have a season of doubt where the players know he is going (look at what happened to Man City)

If that is the case then replacements would have been thought of and potentially approached (just more secretively and professionally than Everton have done)

I agree, definitely not a usual name.

Other than the refusal to sign a new contract I can see no other reason that Saints want to look elsewhere. If any of the other stuff is an issue, why the Les interview? No, Saints want or wanted RK to commit himself to us and it seems that this is all about the money.

This situation is a funny one for me. I actually didn't have any distaste towards Everton at the beginning of this process. They offered our manager more money, he accepted it, fair enough, we move on. But the arrogance of some of their fans on twitter is astounding!! Therefore, if we could give them a thrashing at Goodison, I would certainly raise a glass or two.

Yes, considered that and I think Les realised that he's no different to that lying Argie bastard. He decided he needed to get rid but came up with a great ploy to make him think he was moving on so we'd get 4 big ones as compo!!

Go Les!

Officially a mess now. So koeman hasn't spoken to Everton yet as we haven't agreed anything. His new agent cocking things up big time. Either way rk is not going to come out of this well
