Who would you have as our next Manager

My knowledge of European football is not great. But I do find it difficult to understand why Emery would be interesting in leaving a side who have won the EL for the last three years, and will be playing in the CL next season. Doesn't seem in any way logical. (I know that he doesn't have to be interested in us for us to be interested in him, but clearly for things to actually progress then he ultimately has to be!)

Same reason as Koeman, I guess.

Come to the Premier League, earn good money, take over a well-run club that will let him get on with the job. European football already on offer. If he does well, he can bridge the gap and join the top four.

Several reasons:
1. Money. I would imagine we could offer him a substantial pay rise.
2. A different challenge. The PL is a lot more competitive than La Liga.
3. We're in the PL. The PL is a very attractive option for foreign managers.

I know Everton could offer all those things but we don't know what happened between him and Everton, if anything.

I know I am going against one of my previous statements but Eddie Howe just makes me nervous. I don't think him and Southampton are a good fit.

I think if Howe was appointed it would definitely split the fanbase having said that seeing those two names it's obvious it'll be someone else.

Just please let's not hang this out Saints - I'd like to have no football-fretting summer please.
 
Emery would be a massive coup for Saints if we got him. The obvious downside to him is how long we would keep him for and end up in the same situation as when Pochettino left and now.

Maybe time to accept that, as with players, we are seen as a stepping stone?

And if The Saints powers that be understand and accept that, then hopefully we will remain one step ahead.....

That's what interests me. Did he reject Everton (and if so, what were his reasons), or did Everton decide that they preferred Koeman? Different things I read suggest different things.

I don't get this downside people keep saying. 95% of managers who are successful with us will be sounded out by one the big boys and likely leave anyway.

Cortese always said the club was set up so that no one was irreplaceable and that we would just go on as normal. His departure itself was arguably the biggest proof of that we've seen so far.

I honestly think once Wenger goes then the days of long term managers will be largely gone. Particuarly in the PL outside of the top clubs.
