Tactically, Emery makes the most sense by far. It'd be a very familiar style for us: 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 variants, with a focus on pressing. However, his press is a bit more Ranieri than Poch: Sevilla doesn't wait around when they win back possession.

I'd love to get him (and oddly, it'd be the second time he replaced Koeman as manager). But yeah...he's a very ambitious manager, as most managers are. We might need to reevaluate the five-years-to-CL plan if we want him.

It's quite possible he wanted European football as well as the money - win or just do well in the Europa with us and he'll be joining a proper big club soon enough. More prestige to be gained faster here, but it requires a huge amount of self belief ( and a willing to turn down mega-money to rebuild Everton). By going to Everton, Koeman has got loads of cash but is basically repeating the last year or two of his career.

Emery league finishes in la liga:
    Valencia: 6th (after replacing a sacked koeman), 3rd, 3rd
    Sevilla: 5th and 7th
Not to forget those 3 back to back wins of the EL. Not too bad at all :)

Emery is 14-1 with Betfair. Worth a punt?

    No worries <laugh>

It did make me chuckle the first time but I was in a fret trying to catch up on 10+ pages to see if anything official at the end!

Bet lots of posts have been missed though. The amount of posts per minute we've had at times in the last couple of days has been insane <yikes>

Honestly speaking, I'd be surprised if we could land Emery.

But if we did, it'd be the 'holy **** what a brilliant surprise' kind of thing.

    So bring it on. :)

Bit of a nit pick but don't think he was there for the first EL.

Certainly very impressive, trying not to get too excited though. Still filing in the 'dream appointment, very unlikely' category.

    For now anyway...

Twice you've said that Tom with zero explanation. I'm genuinely interested to know why not? I don't know enough about him to Mae that call, so wonder why you are so adamant.

He's just not in my top 3 of managers I'd want who we've been linked with. Nothing against him so much, I've just got other preferences.

Because imho he is suited to Bournemouth. He was **** at Burnley. I don't want him anywhere near this club. He won't want to come here anyway.

He was there for the first but got appointed midway through the season, think shortly after Christmas. Still has to get some credit for that!
