One things for sure, Reed and the board will look very foolish if he leaves. It will remind many of the Clyne situation.

They won't look foolish to me at all. Ron will just look greedy, that's all. Let's just wait and see what unravels from this first.

Maybe the 6m being mentioned is what we've offered for Lukaku :)

Nothing like a good bit of speculation to get the forum buzzing. Let's just hope it all ends up to be a discussion over nothing.

Framing it as greedy is silly, IMO. It's a job offer; we wouldn't dream of calling someone greedy for choosing a job that pays better and has better benefits in the outside world of business, why do we expect football managers to nail themselves to the cross on our behalf?

Not really. He was just stating what was happening at that moment in time. Things can change very quickly in football, so all of what he said is most likely true. Think some people need to stop blaming the board and look at Koeman and his motives.

You'd have to think that Emery must be their first choice. And if they offer the sort of package you said they were offering Koeman then he won't turn it down.

Emery is IMO one of the top 5 managers in the world, he can do better than Everton no matter what they offer.

On Clyne: "Discussions surrounding a new contract are ongoing and currently going well"
Clyne leaves us.
On Koeman: "Discussions surrounding a new contract are ongoing and currently going well"
Koeman leaves us.
Can't help but think that looks slightly foolish. If we continue to improve with a new manager, which we well could, then it won't really matter. Just perhaps it's best to not say anything until it's official.

Hope so. I'm a bit exposed on betfair's next everton manager market. Koeman's price has collapsed but I really can't see him going to everton, so I've been laying the price all day. Someone's going to get their fingers burned, hope it isn't me.

It is not really silly. It's just a football fan being a little bit emotive on a football forum, while not really getting his knickers in a twist. Just an expression. It is greed by the dictionary definition "wanting more." The silly ones are the ones having a melt down over some postings.

Ps. I actually think it's silly when people compare football jobs to the outside world jobs :)

Not really, unless your glass is half empty. It could have been going well and then Everton come and offer a bucket load of cash. **** happens. It wouldn't make me think the Board were foolish at all. As for saying nothing, the Board and Les have been hammered on this forum for doing that in the past.

If the figures being talked about from Everton are anywhere near true then Ron would be an idiot to not consider it. Especially if he has seen the offer from Saints and isn't going to sign.

Not by myself. They don't give updates on how certain transfer negotiations are going, partially because things can changet so quickly. I think it would be best to take the same approach with contract renewals. People may complain but as soon as a contract is signed people will stop moaning. Just my opinion but it stops situations like this from occurring and fans feeling let down after getting their hopes up.
