K Billy on SaintsWeb suggesting that Koeman might find himself put on gardening leave by Saints soon...

Good.
Can we now also stop him from signing Everton's contract?
Or just delay it until such a time as Everton can't wait for him and move on, whilst we replace him?
Anything to make it less attractive for other clubs to think they can come calling, with a barrel load of cash, and take our next manager.

Whilst we can legally do this and even feel like doing it, it will only take one major case to end up in court to blow all football contracts. Could end up with a situation normal in most employment where players/managers can just give notice. Would be chaos, especially for teams like us that keep being ransacked.

Possibly but clubs might then be able to insert no-compete clauses into contracts. Certainly I would think they could go in managerial contracts. Someone like Koeman will have had access to all sorts of information about current players and prospective signings.

That notice period us 'normal people' have I'd written into our employment contracts. Sometimes it's a long period for us plebs, too. I work in a college, and the Teachers have to give a Term's notice. Senior management is far longer. So I expect any notice period in football managers contracts would be at least a year.
