And surprise, surprise. Nothing on the BBC paper gossip, about RK saying no to the Everton job, and stating about having contract talks next week!
http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...n-Boss-Set-Sign-New-Deal-St-Marys-News-Gossip Message got through to the Express. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/ronald-koeman-insists-snub-everton-7965939 And The Mirror https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/may/13/ronald-koeman-southampton-contract-talks Telegraph not so much.
Guans comment the other day.... What i know: Ronald is perfectly happy to stay for his last contracted year, but is always hesitant about adding more, which was most evident in the middle of our bad form where the board presented him with a list of on-going concerns. Nothing has indicated he's jumping at the chance to add to his time here after that. Speculation begins: I wouldn't be surprised if the board replace him in the summer, as an outgoing manager rarely inspires great displays of player commitment. Plus we have a new direction in the works that K billy has told me about. But that's for him to comment on, not me.
Marca reporting that we've made an offer to Flores???? Is this Saints way of getting RK to sign a new contract after leaks about him being linked with numerous jobs?? Dangerous games being played? We shall see.
I think we would be happy to let Ron see out his contract because of the type of man he is. I believe it's easy if a team is perceived to under-perform to latch on to the excuse of a departing manager Pep was announced as Bayern & Manchester City manager whilst the current incumbents had large chunks of the season remaining. Bayern won the treble and City didn't
And surprise, surprise, the Beeb has looked at its accuracy and decided it was inventing rather than reporting. This update is far better balanced: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36293459
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tml?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490 Suggestion that Ron has already been approached by Everton and will consider the offer after the final game of the season. That's a stretch.....he may have been approached, but he has only talked about having discussions with Les Reed about his contract at Saints. At the bare minimum he will stay here next season and I can't see Everton waiting that long. The article even goes on to say that he is likely to stay at Saints, especially as we may have European football next season. There is a soundbite at the end from Ralph...he doesn't get drawn into hypotheticals, merely saying that Saints are committed to RK.
I still think he will honour his current contract, then move on. Though someone said about a contract extension with exit clause if Barca or the National ( Dutch) team come calling, I like the sound of that, but not likely to happen Imho.
Delivering the papers this morning, The Maley Fail is the only paper with Everton and Ron in the same sentence. A tiny paragraph. The rest clearly don't have such good sources as The Fail.
My prediction is that Ron will do one of 1. Stay with us to the end of his current contract 2. Extend his contract with us 3. Join another club 4. Something else Anything else is pure speculation. Vin
Hmm.................. I don't want to add to the speculation but...................Have heard a little rumour from my usually reliable source..........Who I might add I haven't seen for months then I bump into him on the golf course. He knows that I am adding this to the fold. He said there is some sort of stumbling block that is preventing Ron from considering an extension. Something to do with the discussions that went on in January. He wasn't going to sign an extension until the season ended anyway which has been in the press. My source has no idea what the stumbling block is/was only that it was nothing to do with other clubs. However Ron has now decided he will discuss his future but unless Saints are prepared deal with or over come whatever it was that upset Ron from the previous talks, but there will be no extension, as I understand it was a major issue that will need to be sorted. Apparently this has nothing to do with the 5 year plan or the money available for strengthening but something more of a personal. Sorry if this has already been posted or suggested............
Interesting Beddy. That sort of makes sense to me as everything else seems pretty straight forward. We should start speculating: * too many trips to Portugal during the season? * we won't provide him with a translator so he can understand Sammy Lee? * wrong brand of Mayo at Staplewood? My bet is it is centred around the academy and use of youngsters.
Very interesting! Although, if your source is not aware of the problem, how can we be sure it is nothing to do with the 5 year plan or investment into transfers?
Ties in with that Guan suggested that when we were going through our bad patch the board presented him with a list of on going concerns of which apparently got his goat up........maybe this the stumbling block.
