I don't understand why we are comparing USA immigration against ours, because it has no relevance to this thread.

Same as saying Obama says vote in, I can guarantee you if Boris was Prime Minister and Obama was standing next to him and asked he would say vote "out". It was only him being diplomatic towards the current prime minister. Do America care if we are in or out of the Euro. To be truthful I don't think they would care one bit either way as they will still trade with the U.K.
We've believe it or not, got the skills in this country to produce goods the world requires so trading IMO won't be affected, sure it will be tough to begin with, but hard work pays dividends and we will come through it stronger.
The only country I can see kicking up a stink will be the French and whys that? Because without our funding towards the EU would increase theirs forcing them into more debt.
Said it before once we pull out, Germany won't be far behind.
Immigration believe it or not is not the top priority for me in voting in or out, it's about losing our sovereignty that bothers me, and that stupid European law system.

If boris Johnson was leader or not in the running for it then he'd be on the in camp. He's only on the out side as that is where he is best positioned to try and get the job. If we come out then he will almost certainly be next leader of the party.

I think he'll be the next Tory leader - in or out.
Osborne is Sod/Millen-like , with the charisma of a fish.

god forbid he is ever pm, as mayor of London he has trampled over elected councils on planning applications in spitalfields, Norton folgate and other areas,he is only in politics for himself and his cronies in the city,he would strangle opposition with an old school tie.

And what are you basing this on? Why would he be voting out if he really wants to be in? You make more stuff up than JK Rowling's

I understand the average tariff paid for a trade agreement with the EU by a non EU country is 25%. To me we are whether we like it or not in a global economy. You can all the other freedoms you like but if you haven't got a job then life will be crap

Life is pretty crap for the young uns I work with. Next to nil chance of owning a home and paying well over 50% of their salaries in rent. And that is only getting worse each year.

I've had my life in some respects. Own my home didn't have to pay through the nose for it. Easy life really but if I was young again I would be in the next to nil chance of owning my home and my life would be anything but easy. Feel sorry for these kids things are worse in ways than the early eighties. Letting millions more in will only make this worse.

Is this the same as you're in the 'in' camp because you want to get a job that is closely tied with Europe?

If you care about the future of your family then there is only one option and that is to remain in.......To leave the EU now will be the biggest mistake we will ever do. Boris and grove and IDS have admitted that jobs will be lost and prices of absolutely will rise including mortgages and interest rates will go through the roof. The £ is already losing its value in anticipating of leaving the EU. Just look around where you live and count how many businesses are being topped up and funded by the EU and if that stops millions of workers will be directly and indirectly effected......Now the top international monetary fund has just announced that The UK face very serious consequences if we leave as they the IMF who gauge all trade all over the world has indicated that the UK has already had millions of pounds of trade put on hold by other countries.....I voted not to join the common market all those years ago be cause we were a thriving country where we had many industries employing millions of people i thought it would be a bad move but we joined.....So for 40 odd years we have been in it the Tories destroyed or privatized anything and everything that we are not and never will be self sufficient again as it's all gone.......We benefit by being in the EU now and for every pound we put in we get £10 worth of trade through the free market and if that stops then it will cost us just as much money to do trade with anyone as it wont be free anymore......Boris and the rest have said that coming out do benefit the rich over the rest but they say its a price worth paying.....WHAT! Yes for you multi millionaires maybe... Taxes will have to rise as there will be less people working and those who are lucky enough to work will lose all their workers rights that the EU makes sure we get. So if you don't quite understand what coming out of the EU really means and how it will effect you and your families future then for gods sake find out and don't be conned by Boris (he who will do anything to be prime minister) and IDS who not long ago said a family with 2 children should be able to live on £50 / week........Are you really going to listen to these idiots who want out for their own interests at the cost of you and me......Vote to stay in and be safe and know where you are....

Reactions: Mind the gap!
I read that with interest until it became an anti Tory political rant, blaming all of our downfalls on Tories, Boris, privatisation, then insulting people of the opposite point of view by calling them idiots, threatening that taxes will have to rise, a typical piece of remain fear propaganda and I don't agree or fear one word of it.

That rant convinces me that an our own parliament should not be allowed to become the equivalent of a county council of Europe, we want an independent self sufficient Briton, ruling our own borders, controlling our own fisheries, raising and lowering our own taxes, politicians that are accountable to their own local electorate, in control of our own police and judiciary systems, with trade and industry in our own hands, controlled and financed by British know how and management.

Vote leave and lets not depend on big brother bossing us and bleeding us dry..

No they haven't..in fact food prices are predicted to fall.

What like the steel industry in Wales etc.. can't remember the EU rushing in with funds to support it?

Boris and the rest have said that coming out do benefit the rich over the rest but they say its a price worth paying

When did he say that?? post a link Because I don't believe this.

Taxes will have to rise as there will be less people working

Or they may fall as we won't be spending £150m per week in EU fees..

Vote to stay in and be safe and know where you are....

Open borders does not make us safe! Vote out then we can make ourselves and our country safe with our own rules and if the majority don't like the rules We can vote them out and start again.

A privilege not afforded to us from the European parliament..

I know where I am thanks..

Reactions: Red Robin
With regard to Eu laws, they are all a background minimum standard to make sure the whole of Europe is safe, protected, environmentally minded and progressive.

'hindering laws' are there to stop countries undercutting eachother or gain an unfair advantage on others by neglecting workers, the environment and safety standards

Ever heard of this country standing on its own two feet, ever heard of the 5th largest economy saying we do not want to be told by outside unelected sources how to run and operate our country.
The country can prosper, not being held back by the dodgy pack in Brussels telling us how to run our lives and business.

So wildly incorrect figures according to Wizs link. You really don't think this through do you..

You need to get your facts right MTG.. You're talking rubbish.

8. The government’s paper 'The Process for Withdrawing from the European Union' argues that British citizens in the EU should not assume that rights acquired under free movement rules 'would be guaranteed' if the UK were to vote to leave the EU. However, in such a circumstance. international law would guarantee the rights of Britons living and working in EU member states. Under a principle enshrined by the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties 1969, withdrawal from a treaty releases the parties from any future obligations to each other but does not affect any rights or obligations acquired under it before withdrawal. This is backed up by research conducted by the House of Commons Library[7].

9. In addition, any action to remove British citizens currently in EU member states would directly contravene Article 19 of the EU’s Charter of Fundamental Rights, under which collective expulsions are prohibited.[8] The collective expulsion of foreigners is also forbidden under protocol four of the European Convention on Human Rights, Article four of which reads: “Collective expulsion of aliens is prohibited.”[9]

Oh yes an organisation that is all about improving standards across Europe, how very dodgy indeed.
