Tremendous expectations in the press about Rooney for the past few days. I really hope that tomorrow they are not blaming him for a less than match winning performance. Build something up, then knock it down has often been the way of newspapers.
Very true. Furthermore he can be his own worst enemy sometimes. I think he'll do just fine today though !
Did enough...just...but can't see them scoring many against Italy. Still, Italy should be our second team now, shouldn't they?
Well I expected us to be eliminated in the group stages, Decent performances in the three games, looking forward to see how we do against Italy
i can't believe i won't be able to watch on Sunday, hugely disappointing..not that Saturday would have been much better, but...now i just hope we can beat Italy so i can see another game!
Bit lucky in a sense but hey ho we'll take that! Will need to improve against Italy but I am sure the players and Hodgson know that.
So England benefit from a dodgy decision, and Blatter calls Goal Line Technology a "necessity". How am I not surprised! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18520916 England also fined 5,000 Euros for an 'attempted' pitch invasion! I assume they are building the coffers for an end-of-Euros party...
Roll on Sunday !! Pozzo can wait until Dyche stays and Italy are out until we are truly ok with him !
If Balotelli is playing, do you think that we'll try and wind him up so that he does something stupid and is sent off?
I see that Joe Hart is talking about taking a penalty if it comes to a shoot-out. Last time he was involved in a shoot-out for England, he scored and got himself booked.
This hasn't been a bad tournament so far from the football point of view but there have been some very ordinary teams who have qualified so the EUFA representative on the radio this morning who said they were expanding the competition to 24 teams in 2016 because so many quality teams hadn't qualified must have thought the interviewer was simple minded. "Oh no, it's obviously not about money," he said.
tonight's was the worst game so far..incredibly dull, hopefully tomorrow's will be an improvement..i'll be listening on the radio on the way back from Sunderland!
I don't think the eight teams will be worth much more money to them. Broadcasters pay for viewing figures, and I think the reason TV interest has been so high this year is because every group has had close and/or good matches, and because the games are all in the evening. Start playing joke matches like Spain vs Estonia (with an extra eight places they would have qualified this year), or scheduling England vs France on a Wednesday lunchtime, and that extra money will soon dry up.
