Ruess not included for Germany after failing to recover from injury. Big blow for them that.

Rashford included in 23 man squad. Along with Sturridge Hendo and Wilshire.

Delph, Townsend and Drinkwater miss out.

If id have taken Townsend over Rashford.

I'm stunned.

Given we only have 1 wide player in the squad in Sterling and his form over the last year has been shocking, id have liked another option to play wide with real pace and ability to go past a player.

so why wouldn't you take Rashford, that's exactly what he can do? you'd be better off leaving behind one of the midfield plodders ie Henderson, Wilshere, Dier or Milner.

Because Rashford is a centre forward not a winger?

Wilshire is the only midfielder able to beat a man. Dier is the only DM in the squad plus cover for CB.

Milner offers versatility. Could argue about Hendo depends what he's playing, the 4 centre forwards and no wide player suggests a diamond but doesn't leave much option to switch unless he's going to play Vardy wide left, which wouldn't surprise me to be honest.

If I'm going to be totally honest, we have too many midfielders and not enough wide players or CB's so plenty more wrong with the squad than just that.

Selections based more on reputation.
And a misplaced sense of loyalty to the players who did well in the qualifiers.

On current form Sterling shouldn't be anywhere near, and Henderson and Wilshere aren't fully fit, so just simply shouldn't be going.

Every tournament England make the same mistakes, taking at least one player who's not fit and others who are there on previous merits and not current form.

Rashford can play as both a centre forward and a winger.

Barkley?

Lallana?

"Milner Offers Versatility".

He should have that on the back of his shirt.

Although when translated it actually means he's a ****ter version of John O'Shea. Amazingly he has as many caps as Peter Beardsley, although still fewer than Emile Heskey.

I'd take my nan over Townsend.

Only problem with Rashford going is that he's behind Studge, Vardy and Kane so is just there to make up numbers imo. Drinkwater should be there ahead of Wilshire, the lad hasn't played and should not be going. Townsend is simply **** and so left footed he's very easy to work out and defend against.
