In fairness lads portugal have never had strikers and had to go with ronaldo and nani up top.

I think once they scraped out of group they did well.

I think france bottled it myself. They ran out of ideas very early on and were basically lackung shape and patience. They disnt make a single chance i think after portugal scored.

Portugal imo deserved it on the whole oever the 120mins.

Bottom line is that France had plenty of opportunities to beat them (and Germany were better than France, but didn't beat them). Boo hoo - them's the rules. If Portugal's plan was based around other teams not taking their chances then it worked. I was more than happy to see Wales do the same, and had they beaten Portugal and then squeezed past France in the final I would have been ecstatic.

****e tournament, dull winners - but that's football.

    Same here mate.

A friend of mine was over in Portugal yesterday, he said it was immense, the celebrations were universal.

He didn't mention any purists bemoaning the fact that they weren't Brazil '70 like.

Basically Gomes's job was to pull defenders away and create space for the likes of Ronaldo, Figo, Deco and Rui Costa <laugh> I actually preferred it when he started for that very reason.

So Portugal win it then eh. Bout what that tournament deserves, been totally dire and uninteresting really apart from Wales' very good run

I'm sure absolutely zero Portuguese really give a damn how they won it, funny they do it with that team rather than the one(s) they had years ago that were more highly touted

Some plumber or something went past in his white van today, two Welsh flags still proudly flying off the roof of the van like two big dragon fingers up at the whole of England. All the english ones got taken down or fell down and got destroyed to **** in the road and the rain ages ago

Not like in the past when there was England flags in most peoples front window when they were in a major tournament, probably because most people have cottoned on to England being a global football power as being the myth it is.

Its a shame that myth or no the pride has been sucked totally out of it by the media. If we are not in sf youd be the worst in the world to fly a flag and prob a racist etc etc.

The welsh have found pride. The scots love any excuse. The english are looked down on for doing it.
