Not like in the past when there was England flags in most peoples front window when they were in a major tournament, probably because most people have cottoned on to England being a global football power as being the myth it is.

There were some around, in windows, off houses and on cars, but definitely a lot less than I can remember even at the world cup a couple of years ago, that shoddy tournament people realised the situation I think, if not before. Possibly some were also hung because of the referendum

Its a shame that myth or no the pride has been sucked totally out of it by the media. If we are not in sf youd be the worst in the world to fly a flag and prob a racist etc etc.

The welsh have found pride. The scots love any excuse. The english are looked down on for doing it.

The racist right wing highjacked the England cross of St George as we all know, I wish they'd have highjacked that boring ****ing homage to someone living in a timewarp bubble, the Scots and the Welsh have their own patriotic anthems and the NI loyalist loyalty to the crown means they're happy to hope god saves her but England boringly cling on to the UK national anthem when there's obviously others out there that are more suitable for England.

Basically Gomes's job was to pull defenders away and create space for the likes of Ronaldo, Figo, Deco and Rui Costa <laugh> I actually preferred it when he started for that very reason.

Pauleta was pretty good to be fair.

Jerusalem. Embarrassed to hear ours at the same time as the French and Italian ones (even the Russian and German ones). Ours is ****ing cack. Written by a French woman in the court of Louis IVX, I believe.

One of the ****test tournaments I've seen in all honesty.

Poor Quality.
**** format that promoted defending for the draw.
Players under performing in most teams, making teams like Wales and Iceland look good.

Only positive was that the Ref's had a good tournament and Ronaldo got injured by a moth.

Didn't work for us, like <laugh>

To be fair, the last 2 Euro's were **** as well. I can't really remember them except Spain winning. 2004 and before were good.
Sounds strange but that's probably down to global improvement (with the current trend of conservative football), so even alot of the smaller nations have improved to a level that means they can compete with the traditional football nations. Albania or Iceland for example even a few years ago had no chance of beating someone like France or Italy, but today because the standards of junior training in those countries have improved it means the talented youngsters move abroad to big leagues therefore making the national team stronger.
So the gap closes and the bigger nations become worried about upsets and take a more conservative approach to games, means there is going to be less 5,6 or 7- nils.

The games between the bigger nations have always tended to be tight and tense (at least since the 80s) because there is often very little between the two teams.

This. The **** nations have better footballing knowledge meaning they setup to nullify the opposition. Can't blame them, it's their best chance of getting a result but makes it dull as **** for spectators.

The format too is ****.

The move to 3 points for a win was to promote positive football.

In the Euros it's almost impossible to get knocked out unless you lose multiple games. Actually winning a game is worthless. The Euros need to move to a system of 4 or more points for a win.

Either go back to 16 teams or expand to 32.

Or, if they want to stick to 24, go straight to the quarter finals after group stages. Group winners and best runners up.

**** the "best third place" thing off.

Tony Cascareno reckons we need to make the pitch bigger. Apparently all nations, but particularly the lesser footballing nations, are producing athletes who can cover the pitch and hunt in packs for 120 minutes. He believes by increasing pitch sizes, the game will depend on the more technical, and attacking, side of the game.

That would be expensive, just think how many pitches there are in the world. Far cheaper to say it's a ten man game instead.
