Russia 1st victims of the head to head rule. Effectively this was a 4 point win for Greece.
Don't agree with it myself, think goal difference should be the 1st deciding factor after points.
It's slightly fairer in the champions league as you play each other twice.

I didn't realise that this was the rule, but I think it's a good one. The result between the teams in contention is a good decider. Although it might appear to encourage exciting play to use GD, you could get the situation where a poor team folded in the last game gifting a few goals sqewing the league in their opponents favour. This seems fairer to me.

If England and France both finish on 7 points presumably the GD will have to be used to decide who wins the group?

What a great word. Not sure about the spelling, but a great word.

Yep. And if it's all equal (so we win 2-0 and they win 3-2), England are top on UEFA Coefficient. Yes, it's weird.

I hope we get through and are in a position to worry about being 1st or 2nd. Group C isn't clear yet...so us finishing 2nd may be the better result...who knows at this stage?

Also finishing second means we avoid Germany in the semi if we get there. And if Spain don't win their group, we could be playing Italy or Croatia knowing we have a great chance of making the final.

Here's tonight's permutations in tabular form. Couldn't be simpler!

England Ladies have just scored against Netherlands in their Euro qualifier. Took a quick free kick whilst the Dutch wall was still sorting itself out. Yankey elected to take it quick and not wait for whistle. Sort of goal that's great when it's for you, but not so hot when it's against you.
