Not really sure to be honest, just I think everyone always moans about how we have no technical players and we can't string more than 3 passes together, and then we don't take the one player who is actually really good at keeping possession, after having a great season as well. I think with regards to what you're talking about is he said he didn't want to be on the bench, which although I sort of agree, isn't the way to go about it. I'd be tempted to drop Rooney if he said he didn't want to be on the bench.

Carrick retired, calling up Jags means we now have 8 defenders. So we are now have cover in all positions <ok>

Jagielka should have gone in the first place. Him and Lescott are the best pairing.

It's unfortunate that Jack Wilshere has had such a torrid season for injuries as he has been our most exciting central midfielder by quite some way. It's also unfortunate that Rodwell got injured at a bad time as I think he could have added some much needed drive. Technically proficient as Carrick is, he's a sitting midfielder and wouldn't bust a gut to get forward and support attacking moves. There's a place in the game for sitting midfielders, but a team needs something else as well to turn defence into attack. Gerrard and Lampard are these sorts of players, but the English disease has sucked the life out of them and they're now afraid to make runs for fear of being caught out of position. Now they just sit and either go safe or attempt ridiculous passes/shots because they won't leave their position to get into attack.

Personally, I am "in the know" about all this; I know that we haven't won anything for the last 50 years! <laugh>

I've lost a lot of respect for Carrick, I backed him to go to the Euros but Roy wanted him on standby (same thing henderson, johnson etc are on) and he wouldn't do it so didn't get a call up at all.

Gives the impression he thinks he's above it.

Jagielka and Lescott is the best centre back pairing by a mile. If he goes with anything else then he's made a huge mistake

England will beat Holland in the semi-finals on penalties. You heard it here first.

The more I look at the schedule, the more I realise that this could be realistic. We could very well get Italy in the quarter finals and they're shocking. Get to the semis and we'll see one of the rarest sights in football: an England team with confidence.

I couldn't leave Cahill out. He's fast becoming the best centre-back in the world.

I think Germany are pretty much nailed on for the Euros this year. England don't have a chance, they are without doubt the least stimulating football team I have ever seen

The strange thing is that I don't mind. We have so often had high expectations, then been disappointed. Give the new manager some tournament experience without pressure and try and build a new team for the World Cup. I'm sure we'll get through the group stage and then see what happens.
