Was this the post you are speaking of? I haven't followed much of your nonsense as it only serves to emphasise your collective stupidity, which Treble seems to think is akin to The Comic Strip Presents, which, in itself, is the most amusing remark on this board for quite some time. He really is a pudding. <laugh>

There were a number of posts where the term Darkie was used and I don't believe there was ever any qualification or indication to irony or sarcasm, just a simply made remark using a blatantly derogatory term. One individual claiming hindsight sarcasm doesn't make it so. I can only believe that they believed everyone who reads this board were avid fans of On The Buses, which is highly improbable, so perhaps, those making accusations should be a tad more careful of how they use unacceptable terms in board conversation.

For the record, I don't believe they had racist intent and I believe that jumping on unintended interpretations of innocently spoken/written words to create offence as an argumentative tool is both shabby and unnecessarily offensive in itself. But it does suit you all so well. <ok>
No it wasn't the post I was referring to, and it was you who jumped on them to suggest racism, and it blew up in your face as you used the word coloureds in doing so. You've since admitted that this isn't a subject you're au fait with and it shows, so why not back out while you're behind ;)

You're not really qualified to comment on this given you still thought the word "coloureds" was acceptable. I appreciate that you apologised for it but clearly you're stuck in the past. The use of the term "darkies" was actually more relevant to Love Thy Neighbour than On The Buses.

As I said, I don't usually get involved in such conversations, so my use of the word was a first for me and it will be the last, as I fully accept how it is viewed and respect that. The fact that you are taking some seemingly god-given right that you can grant me qualification to make comment or not is simply stunning and really does expose just how narrow and prescribed your opinions are.

Okay, again I accept that you are correct about something, a TV programme from the eighties (?); I had thought of the wrong programme, which simply supports my point that using offensive terms from it is neither clever nor is it good practice, as the so-called humour is not as well known and attributable as you seem to believe. Coloured was once accepted as being reasonable and that has changed, calling someone a Darkie was certainly a much used term, but it was not and never will be acceptable.

As I said before, the fact that you have and are still making such an issue of my innocent mistake is shabby and really shows the pettiness of your argument.

The irony is still lost on you, on all counts.

Go read up on Love thy neighbour

Ah, so you mean, Hull City AFC (DMD, who posted on the same post as you, but you couldn't recall his name? What about all of the other insults about Hull and Sunderland, have you got something even more vague and dishonest to post on that?

That's him. The fella who thinks freedom of movement within the EU is racist.

No, I understand what racism is and I certainly knew that Darkie is a racist term. Coloured was acceptable once and time has changed that mindset; at the first time of calling I accept that and have moved forward with it. I don't need to back out of anything, I'm being honest and I'm being fair, which is more than I can say for you and your oppos.

No, it is the truth that is lost on you. If people have to read up on some obscure TV programme from 40yrs ago to appreciate your sarcasm or irony then I would suggest you are on very shaky ground.

The vote affected the timing, the dip was due some point soon anyway.

The fact so many remainians seem to think the alternative to leaving was things being all rosey just adds to the amusement.

Bullshit!

FYI the 2 day drop in Sterling post the Brexit vote was the largest since the Bretton Woods agreement ended. That was in the early 70's. Making it the biggest 2 day drop in more than 40 years.

But, of course, Brexit had nothing to with it.

You don't half talk some ****!...

Indeed. Wikipedia can be his friend.

Why do I need Wikipedia? When the term was used, in more than one post, there was no reference to the show for folk to search on; all of your guff is based on hindsight argument and is totally irrelevant and equally nonsense.

Go check out who's liked the posts when that term has been used, and I'll give you a clue, he's isn't white.

He obviously got it, you didn't, as you're talking about an issue you know **** all about by your own admission.

Oh pipe down you dull ****er.

You'd put a ****ing glass eye to sleep with your pedantic clueless bullshit

What's that got to do with it? He knew of the programme and it's humour, good for him. Many would not, just as many would not know he is not white. You really are a thick ****, Tobes. I haven't admitted knowing nothing about racism, so that's just another lie you are building to disguise your abject stupidity.

So why try and pontificate about a subject that you admit you know **** all about?

You really are a thick, boring old **** mate.

Can you honestly not see the use of xenophobic, racist terminologies to highlight the bigotted view of those they're aimed at? The Comic Strip Presents Five Go Mad in Dorset used references to "gollywogs" and "darkies" to highlight racism by aiming it directly at those who used such outdated remarks. Stephen K Amos and Lenny Henry both use the words "coon" in their acts to paraphrase people they've come across who still use that terminology and hold on to those out of date views. Unless you're honestly suggesting they're all racist for doing so. It's fairly obvious that EVERY remark used by the likes of @Just Stan and @Tobes and myself have done just that to highlight the same bigotry in people like @petersaxton . The fact the sarcasm and humour in doing so, is beyond you, is neither here nor there. It's fairly obvious to anyone why it's being used to mock others' backward "Love Thy Neighbour" thinking... and to be honest I think you know full well too but are pretending to plead ignorance.

Where I think you have an argument is in saying such jokes are being used to all Brexit ppl shouldn't have that type of humour aimed at them in order to portray them all as racist or xenophobic. I think there are many that doesn't apply to, but for @petersaxton based on his comments on this thread it absolutely does. Where you let yourselves down is in coming to his defence over his bigotry simply because he happened to vote the same way as you. Ironically, all you're doing is confounding the misconception that you're all bigots which clearly you're not.

Not just that, but on the day of the vote, on hearing the rumour that Remain had edged it, the stock market soared to a high <laugh> Like I've said, you couldn't make it up, except quite clearly some have. It's the ability to make stuff up with no basis despite all the evidence in front of you telling you otherwise, that's so funny in all this. The other stupidity is the notion that only the Remain voters will suffer as a result of all of this and that the Leave lot are immune to the ****storm that's about to engulf us. It's like turkeys voting for Christmas and then jeering the Geese for voting against! <laugh>

Indeed.

It was coming anyway, what a crock of ****. So a 31 year low against the dollar was around the corner apparently. Absolutely ****ing clueless, delusional bullshit.
