I've always thought a centre half or defensive (at least central, even if more attacking) midfielder make the best captain, they're in the ideal position to organise the team. Strikers spend most of their time at the other end of the pitch unable to communicate much. Keane Ashbee Vieira Hierro Puyol Adams Baresi Beckenbauer Lahm Maldini Zidane etc. I just don't see how a striker can have as much organisational impact on the pitch, and it's why I think Davies was a good choice for us.
