"A quiet start for Southampton notwithstanding, he is a promising young player who also symbolises the rebirth of the Zambian national team. Mayuka capped the country’s title-winning campaign at the last Africa Cup of Nations with the tournament’s Golden Boot and played all 120 minutes of their shootout win over Ivory Coast in the final. Leaving Africa first for a spell at Maccabi Tel Aviv, where Porto were rumoured to be interested in him, the Zambian earned his move to England with solid displays for Swiss side Young Boys and had reportedly been tracked by QPR. He joined the Saints instead and, with more experience, could prove to be a bargain"

Very surprising to see, can't wait to see him have a prolonged run in the first team.

Mayuka can't be written off just yet. He should get more game time with Saints soon.

Well he has done far more at international level than any of our other players, and he was fantastic for Zambia in the Cup of Nations. I hope he gets settled here, because he's going to be great, whether it's at Southampton or somewhere else.

I'm sure he'll get more games at some point. He's still young and probably hasn't settled in completely, but Lallana's injury brings him one place closer to the first team.

He's very likely to be called up for the African Nations Cup so I wonder if Adkins is reluctant to give him a run in the team before that.

Nigel not a huge fan. Mayuka is either not good enough for the PL (in Nigel's eyes) or his style doesn't suit us. Only Adkins knows.

I don't understand this statement. Mayuka has only just turned 22 and has regulary been on the bench for Saints since he moved. Why does that mean Adkins isn't a fan? Puncheon has been in good form, as have Lallana, Ramirez and Lambert, given Mayuka's young age he has plenty of time to get into the team. If Adkins didn't like Mayuka, he wouldn't even be on the bench.

He should come to Portsmouth, we'd play him. We wouldn't necessarily pay him though.....

Mayuka is going to get some game time over the Christmas period I'd imagine. Be interesting to see if he can force his way into a starting position. I'll be pleased if he causes Nigel a bit of a headache on that score.

Think you are all getting a bit touchy...like when people criticise de Ridder. Just meant that Adkins isn't choosing him and there must be a reason why he isn't first choice and isn't used as a sub.

Not too sure I would buy too much into this 'vote' or ranking of players. David Luiz has made his way to 79th.
