Vidic is in there as well. Great player when fit but not too sure how you can be in the top 100 players in the world when you haven't had a run in the team for 2 years due to injury.
Mayuka is in a good position. Would not surprise me if he plays while Lallana is out. Africa Cup of Nations actually works in Saints/his favor as he'll get some guaranteed time and a chance to show his stuff. At some point in the season, Saints may either drop completely out of or climb completely out of the relegation race which would give Mayuka another couple chances to start if he hasn't forced his way in already. After the season, if he has demonstrated his mettle then Saints can simply let Puncheon go.
Anyone who was at the game vs Spurs will probably agree, he was our best player when he came on in the second half.
Would have thought he would have played at the beginning of the season as he had already played 8 games in Switzerland . He offers something different because of his speed, but he was not as quick as I thought when playing for the U21s
**** knows. Maybe he should become an administrator, they seem to get paid a lot for doing very little.
Personally I don't understand why we got him if we aren't really going to use him. He was a star for Zambia in their African Cup triumph yet can't get into the Saints team. I see this as rather silly frankly along with the way he went out of favour after a very decent second half showing against Spurs. We've tried to shove Rodriguez on the left several times where he is uncomfortable. Those who have seen Mayuka play before Saints and for Zambia will know he is not only very comfortable on the left but is extremely effective and has experience playing there. It's almost as if Adkins doesn't even know where Mayuka can play.
Totally agree with you.....Rodriguez has yet to convince me he can play at this level and Mayuka for some unknown reason is just not getting any game time.
Rodriguez has actually played well when playing upfront, it's just when he is put on the wing he looks uncomfy.
Debatable he has played well up front, in his defence hes not had many opportunities. But saying that Mayuka has had none in any position?? Find that really strange as it would seem the lad is obviously quite rated albeit not by NA and in the fact he's hardly appeared from the bench either. Like someone said earlier he looked good when he came on against Spurs, we haven't seen him since??
I am sure Mayuka will get his chance if he is patient enough to wait. Puncheon has exceeded most expectations and is obviously keeping him out of the team currently. The problem with Lallana being injured is that Puncheon is the next most likely player on the left but we need to keep him on the right with Clyne, so either Ramirez plays left, which is a bit of a waste or we try one of Guly, Rodriguez or Mayuka all of whom would probably be better centrally.
Well the games I have been to when Rodriguez has played up front he has always worried the defence. May have only scored one but should have at least 3, one ruled out for no reason at all. I agree with Mayuka he looked good against Spurs and since then hasn't been given a chance. With Lallana out maybe he will but who knows.
