What's so racist about not wanting even one here?

Are we a fuking charity?

I don't think there is anything wrong in being charitable and we do our bit as a country, where it takes the piss is when charitable becomes a criminal enterprise.

Charity should start home.

Social media will have you believing that’s the case but it’s more nuanced than that.

I think there’s those who believe what you say, if we don’t let them all in you’re a racist, and there are those who are like don’t let any in and shoot the boats

and the majority of people who are probably in the middle who know there’s an issue that needs addressing whilst also fulfilling our role to offer genuine cases of asylum.

Social media doesn’t have me believing anything mate, I make my own opnions.

Just like I did on Covid, just like I do on whether Amorim needs to be sacked, just like I do on this.

There's no doubt that it can sway and influence people, you only have to look at some of the ****e posted on this very website to see that, but it doesn't form my opinion.

Nor does actual media, the likes of the BBC.

Got my own opinion. I haven’t got the solution mind, it should have been dealt with properly a long time back.

No doubt there's a bunch of folk out there who would blindly consider that to be racist.

They'd be wrong.

Yeah I meant in general terms rather than directing it at you in particular. I think social media has become a battle for people’s minds rather than trying to inform and educate.

Everything on there is so heavily biased and trying to win people over to a certain way of thinking rather than offering a balanced argument. Add to that a lot of people have just binned off journalism as being corrupt, so now their only news source is what the algorithms feed them.

I just think that when you actually talk face to face with people about current affairs and world issues, most people have a fairly reasonable and informed opinion and there’s more common ground than there are differences.

I guess extreme opinions and divisive stuff gets more interaction on social media though. So that’s what will drive it.

What I don't get about this endless conversation is that those who sit in the 'we must let them all in or you're racist' camp can't see that there is a massive ****ing problem.

We don't have room for them all, we can't afford to home, clothe, feed and wipe their arses, while we ignore problems at home.

Not everyone in that march is far right, they just aren't. There are a load of ordinary people who are genuinely concerned that we are being colonised.

Black or white, absolutely no middle ground here.
Fortunately not everyone on the march was right wing, but every right wing nut job was on it. Said it before and will say it again, until such times as this issue is stopped from being used as a political football, nothing will change.

Yeah I know it is bro, that's what concerns me when people only get their info from social media, because all if it is designed to whip up emotions and get people frothing.

And on both sides, it just feeds people more and more of the same stuff that they want to hear, even if it's not true. To the point where some folk just don't ever hear the other side of the argument and live in the echo chamber.

I think you get the response you do sometimes because you are outwardly disrespectful to Muslims and label them all as rapists and terrorists. And say things the boats should be shot up and people left to drown. Maybe that's your 'jagged edge' but when you say **** like that, you're gonna get it back in spades.

It wasn't a march designed to 'Unite the Kingdom' it was a march motivated by an anti-immigration stance. Organised by Tommy Robinson and his EDL noncey mates. As I mentioned before, if it was designed to unite the kingdom, then it would have included British people from all ethnicities, Imam's on the stage talking about what it means to be a British Muslim. People from the Hindu and Sikh faith, Church leaders from Black churches etc

That actually could have been a really strong message about how to unite the kingdom, a show of British strength against those who want to divide us and get us fearful of each other. But that's not what Tommeh wants and it's the opposite of what he stands for.

So what was stopping any of those people going along, I wasn't invited so am I being discriminated against. I could have just turned up like any of those people you mention. Maybe like me, they feel there is no need to march, but we want our voices heard, not constantly ignored like they have been.

There's even nothing stopping any of those groups setting up a march for the same reasons, maybe like me they don't think they will be listened to by the politicians, so rather spend the day watching the footie.

Tbph there is nothing stopping any of those religious groups from getting together and creating their own Unite the Kingdom march. Maybe @Spurlock don't want to march with the Hindu's or the Jews. <laugh>

I'd happily march with all those groups combined if I could be arsed. My point being this isn't just a one way street where you blame one side for all evils.

I have no intention of marching with Jews let alone anyone else.
