I remember when she won Wirral West. Everyone was flabbergasted she pulled it off
Macron calls a snap election after the Brussels results start coming through.
Weird the French system, I won't even pretend to understand it.
As far as I'm aware, Macron isn't actually putting himself on the line with a snap election, just his MPs.
Yeah no way the French would get rid of Macron.
They have no choice, it's his last term. He can't run again.
It will be Le Pen next it seems.

He was on the way out regardless mate, the right and even far right are on the rise all over Europe with France and Italy leading the way.Oh right, I didn't realise it was his last term.

They are disintegrating like nothing I've seen in British politics in my lifetime. An absolute car crash...

I saw that on SKY, it went on like that for ages, so that's not even the worst of the interview. I quite like watching the guy doing the interview, very knowledgeable.
I honestly didn't think he would ever go, I thought he'd reached like Angela Merkel status - but I forget about the 3 term thing. Id rather the shhite I know than the one I don't. Long as Le Pen don't start causing trouble, we've already got one raving lunatic in Europe, not sure we could handle another.
It's 2 terms so it's all very similar to the US system
Macron and his party aren't particularly popular, but he had a very easy election last time as the National Rally were still looked at as not a serious political force.
Since then Le Pen has reorganized the entire party, they're a really serious political force now. I think they can quite easily win both this parliamentary election and the presidential in 3 years.
I don’t think they’ll win the Presidency, nor have a majority in Parliament. You are underestimating how many people in France are strongly opposed to the far right, even if they are disillusioned with the main parties. They will eventually unite behind whatever candidate opposes them, like they did twice with Macron - who is universally despised, btw; don’t underestimate that either.
The French hate their government, it’s a long tradition, but there is no prospect, thank God, of a majority electing a fascist. You can’t judge by elections to European Parliament, those are often a protest vote, as they were here - even Farage got himself elected to the European Parliament (not convinced yet by any means that he’s getting elected to Westminster either btw).
