This is a really weird decision and probably kills whatever slims chances he had before we get within a mile of voting for him.
Unless he's basically given up on the traditional Labour heartlands and conceded that they'll go to Reform and Restore?
Difficult to see where he'd go from there to muster a clear majority. Might pinch a bunch of votes off the Greens and Lib Dems but the Tories will challenge the latter strongly and although Streeting is gay he'll never be pink peroxide pro Palestine gay enough for most Green voters.
So he's basically divided his own vote before he's even started. Peculiar man.
Burnham is the only one I'd trust to take the party back to its traditional values and core principles and in doing so, he can take votes from across the political he spectrum.
I wondered if Streeting only entered the race in case Burnham's chances failed in the by-election.
Like a back up plan to ensure whatever happens there's enough people putting in a challenge to get Starmer out - would seem sensible to have a plan B for the party if they are embarking on this road.
No suggestion AB will fail, but you can't completely dismiss the probability either. Reform will probably chuck everything at it. So it's sensible tactics to prepare for the what if.
I don't particularly like Wes, he don't offend me or nowt, I just think he's a bit of a gasbag but IF he gets results that's all that matters.
As for his sexuality it's never ever crossed my mind about him being gay, nor have I ever tried to look what his personal life is about. I wouldn't see him as a Green either, just because he's gay.
Clearly coming out that WS wants to put us back in the EU, means I would never vote for him, and I've made that clear numerous times that I would not vote for a politician that uttered those words. It is what it is.
I'm still not against Labour and I don't particularly think Starmer should be removed, mainly because it's just more infighting - however, if it came to stopping us rejoining the EU I would vote for whatever party tried to ensure that didn't happen...
Yes, even Reform, I don't like Farage, I'm not happy about the £5M he was gifted, I think he should be suspended from Parliament and never be allowed to stand again.
BUT, I have my opinions and political thoughts, which I've explained way too many times and it's my democratic right as much as anyone others to cast my vote in favour of what I believe in, if it means doing a deal with the devil so be it.
To extend that above thought process, I expect Reform and Tories will do a pact eventually, so I could vote Tory as a protest vote. We've been here so many times.
However, back to Andy Burnham I'm sure he will approach the EU stance a tad more sensibly and will not use it as an opportunity to win votes, unlike his fellow party collegue, so I remain open minded towards him.
