Is she though? https://nypost.com/2024/09/08/opini...orlds-autocrats-to-clamp-down-on-free-speech/ She seems okay on gun laws, to be fair to her. But I think someone is missing the days when Twitter was a "free" source of democrat indoctrination. Thank **** for Elon.
I've not looked at it, but I don't need to look at it, one glance at the author name and topic tell me all I need to know. It's typical twitter shhite to stir up hatred of some kind. It's best left where it is on twitter - it's accounts created for clickbait.
Not sure when Elon has ever said anything even remotely left-wing, or even liberal. The point is, like nine-tenths of Republicans in the aftermath of Jan 6th (Scott Jennings on CNN being a prime example, as is Lynsdsey Graham), he was raging that Trump should never be near power again. When it became apparent that Trump, Bannon, and Stone now have an iron grip on the GOP, especially after the primaries, he realised Trump was the only show in town if he wishes to keep greasing his own palms. So no, Elon hasn't moved from a previous liberal position to MAGA zealot because of some damascene epiphany - it's just the cynical expediency of one of Trump's fellow self-absorbed sociopaths.
She’s advocating for better regulation of social media. That means things like moderation and fact checking. Things that Musk threw out when he bought twitter. If we want free speech, then it has to come with certain responsibilities right ? Especially when it’s targeted at children and gullible people like sucky
fact checking? lol You gonna fact check everything everyone says on Twitter? People say stupid **** every where, all the time. To "fact check" dumb **** on twitter would be more than a full time job for the population of small country. Stuff doesnt need to be fact checked by the platform, it should be fat checked by the people reading it and called out by the same.
Well that’s the problem isn’t it ? When blatant lies and misinformation is presented as fact, then more and more people are susceptible to believing it I’m not talking about fact checking Barry from Wigan who thinks the muzzies want to knock down his church and build a Mosque, but when you get groups and organisations persistently post stuff that is designed to mislead, then shouldn’t something be done about it ?
I dont see how the author is to blame for the 100 or so Muslims screaming for Sharia law in the UK in the video. Tbh
Part the problem I think sucky has is that he will follow an account, let's say that London Crime one or whatever it's called - it might not post anything racist, but the agenda behind it is to. So for example let's show all black crime, or let's show stuff that paints muslims in a bad light. Now if you miss or don't comprehend what is going on in the background with these accounts, they then go on to cause you another problem...the retweet function...because you might see let's say another racist account, you might not know it's racist, you have probably never seen them before, but the reason you are seeing them now is because it's been retweeted by the London Crime account, and then the vicious circle goes on, what with recommendations etc, and before you know it you are down a rabbit hole. After they have achieved what they wanted, now Sucky has posted it on here and infected this place with the shhite and it goes on, and on, and on just like Ariston...
I get you, but again, I am a free speech absolutist. I dont believe that free speech rules should apply only to the powerless, but once you gain power you need to STFU. I find censorship far more dangerous, because who gets to decide what the truth is? Look at Covid, tons of people were silenced, victimised and punished for posting "misinformation" that is now known to be true. Like that masks do **** all, or that the vaccines dont stop you getting or spreading the illness.
Fact checking does happen on twitter, you will see some posts that have extra detail laid into it or to what depth they do it. I'm not sure how this is captured though or who introduced it. It has been helpful on the few ocassions I've seen it and I feed back accordingly that it was helpful, reason being it's the only way to improve things by highlighting the positive aspects of it.
Yeh but it's not misinformation or racism is it? It's just a video of around 100 Muslim men screaming for Sharia law in the UK. I can see why it's rattled a few tbh but why is the real question for me . Why has it rattled yourself and pinkie into dismissing it as something other than a video of around 100 Muslim men screaming for Sharia law in the UK
Indeed, I have no problem with people calling out BS, even governing bodies. But highlighting that it is BS, rather than deleting and censoring people is the way to go imo.
I hear what you’re saying. And I don’t think anybody is saying it’s either say what you want or STFU But with free speech has to come some responsibilities, specifically for social media platforms. It might be okay for some racist nobber to go about saying that immigrants are all criminals and should be sent home, but it’s not okay for a social media platform to air those views imo and we’re back to Trump again lol
Its the horrible habit some have of implying context or intent behind a claim, rather than addressing the claim itself. I am not saying that wouldnt be abused "What? I just posted it, I didnt say nuffin'", but it doesnt render the video unworthy of attention.
That's some LGBTQ **** bro. Censor the **** I personally don't like online Sounds like Use my proper pro nouns okaaay
To me social media is just a really loud megaphone. When we start giving special importance to **** said on social media over things said in real life, then the time has come to panic.
I wonder if Europe invasions offers a balanced opinion of Muslim men in the UK I suspect you already know the answer to this.
