I'll take all of the credit you wish to heap on me, you're far too modest.

No, I don't find gossip about his sexuality or his relationships in the least interesting or worthy of discussion. If something definite were known and acknowledged then I might look to see if there was any impact on club business management. But no, not tittle-tattle about his sexuality, these things tend to grow arms and legs and run amok. But if you enjoy it then fill your boots.

I don't ordinarily pay much attention to this kind of thing. One hears gossip all the time around a football club, after all. It's just that I was really taken aback by this, and the fact that it came from a credible source who doesn't usually engage in tittle-tattle simply exacerbated this.

I made my original post partly in the hope that someone would tell me it was an old rumour that had been disproven, and I was genuinely surprised that so many people were hearing it seemingly for the first time.

I heard this story too a while back but thought it was bollocks, however I did hear that certain things happened in their personal lives which do add credibility to the rumour. Or it could just be a coincidence...who knows
 
Far less shocked by his sexuality, that actually doesn't surprise me at all.

The link to an ex player is the main part of the gossip I'd say. ALthough to be honest who cares, there's no crime is there.

Absolutely no crime. I've got to say though, if it turned out to be true he'd get some stick, and while I would never condone homophobia, it couldn't happen to a nicer bastard...
