Well, if it's an argument you want, fair enough...

I didn't say there was anything 'strange' about being gay, and while I might have used a better word to describe the situation, I'd just like to point you in the direction of the Oxford English Dictionary, where the following definitions are offered next to the word:

unusual
extraordinary
curious
outside of one's previous experience
hitherto unknown
unfamiliar

Bearing this in mind, I'd say 'strange' is a perfectly acceptable way of describing the news that a man with a past reputation as a womaniser is actually gay.

So, yes; it's about semantics. And yes, you're a pedant because of this. Moreover, you're not as ****ing smart as you think.

I absolutely was, and I was told by someone far more sensible, grown-up and less likely to engage in tittle-tattle than me! She's also had a genuine business connection to the club for many years.

It's entirely possible that someone has wound HER up, of course.
