Looking like half of the prem will be in the hat for the next round, progressing any further seems less likely. Unless the man with the balls is kind to us.

If he's kind to us he'll give us Man Utd away. We aren't going to win the thing so might as well try and win the big payday <ok>

  3. As much as I sympathise with the sentiment,a match against one of the big PL teams at home under lights would be my preference.
Chilly October night, dark early, big crowd, our youngsters running at them with nothing to fear....bring it on!

I said to the lads earlier on that if we do get a home tie, I wouldn't mind Arsenal in the next round. Huge club but also a fixture for potential upset.

Three more PL teams will be knocked out tonight ...

... Newcastle, Everton, Watford, Palace, have already gone.

I'd say Millwall have a chance against Leicester as well and there are plenty of lower league sides left.

If the draw matches up more PL sides, against each other, it could get really interesting.

was just thinking this when i checked tonights games, i also think most if not all premier clubs will want to field a 'weaker' side at least until the semi's, i know i am not to fussed about the cups but the winning mentality and the game minutes are important for the squad and this season i feel there is a damn good chance of a lower league club going far...why not us?

Last night demonstrated just how important these games can be for new signings and the rest of our squad ...

... bring them on I say.

We wouldn’t get a big crowd as we never do for cup games these days.

The only clubs that do tend to have tourists, like Spurs, Man Utd, etc.

It doesn't help when, if Arsenal came to the SOL, we'd not recognise most of their players and probably a few of ours.

And there lies the problem. The Premier League and increased numbers of European games have not the domestic cup competitions massively. The big clubs still get decent crowds though

We've allowed the domestic cups to become less important because of the money involved in getting to/staying in the PL ...

... Bruce saw Newcastle slip out of this cup because he daren't lose key players in their relegation battle.

How sad for a club that's won nowt since 1955.

    <laugh>

I don't think they are tbh.

For Newcastle this cup is the chance to be brave and go all out attack. They have players who'd benefit from having the pressure taken off. It's only half a dozen games but lower PL clubs know that two injuries, relegation and a few years in the Championship can permanently cripple them.

And, of course, they're shyte <laugh>

I’m happy with anyone. Let 16 a great effort from League One. I’d like a chance to win over a big draw personally so QPR would do.

    Some interesting possibilities ...

... I'd like a look at the new Spurs ground.

Wouldn't mind Arsenal v Spurs, City v Utd, Chelsea v West Ham ...

... and Preston at home for us <laugh>
