Well after watching Blackpool fall down to the 2nd tier of English football on match of the day and hearing the enormous amounts of praise pored on Blackpool, I found my self wondering, how come this wasn't the case when we was on the premier league?

Blackpool have continuously been praised for playing attacking football throughout the season, which we did in our first season (for the most part.) They have been praised for playing entertaining football throughout the season, which we did. All I seem the remember of the coverage of our brilliant run in the premier league was pundits constantly dismissing us or repeating the same old comment of "the bubble will burst soon." The negative press coverage hasn't stopped though. From the majority of the BBC match reports I have read from this season we seem to get little to no mention at all when we deserved at least a fair and unbiased coverage.

Why is it that the press seem to "hate" Hull so much?
 
Cause "we" played like absolute **** the second season?

"We" were praised during the first season.....
 
I'm not saying we didn't play bad in the second season, I know it was bad, you fail to acknowledge that i'm comparing the first season of blackpool and the first season of hull in the premier league. Pundits on match of the day constantly put down our performances down to fluke or always brushed them away by saying that it was going to come to an abrupt end, which there is no denying the fact that it did. However when you compare the likes of praise that blackpool have received compared to that out ours in the first season of the premier league it is no where near the same level.
 
I don't really agree, we were also "everybody's" favourite second team until the novelty wore off in the second season. Blackpool haven't out-stayed their welcome but most armchair fans (and I believe this is true) were horrified to see Newcastle relegated and Hull survive.. a lot of these people would rather just watch the big names whip the little teams..

Blackpool played their lovely football, had a go and got nothing for it, we however got a second season and blew it differently. The reason was Eastlands, Brown couldn't attract decent players for love nor money after that cos no-one would play for him..

We could have established ourselves à la Stoke who went up with us in much the same circumstances..

Now we have to try again under NP, AP and the Allams..

It's true, but it's not just the BBC. The entire football world seems to dismiss us in recent years, and a lot of teams dislike us just because of Phil Brown (and he wasn't even that bad compared to Pulis, Bruce and McCarthy who seem to escape criticism). We're ritualistically put on last on the FL show, and even Leroy who should show some bias just sort of brushes us aside.

Edit: I agree about Pulis though. Newcastle especially hate us, mainly because Brown is an orange Mackem ****. Apparently.

I think you answered your question yourself. Blackpool played attacking football throughout the season.

Lol, I just meant that like Hansen and Lawrenson with Liverpool, you'd think he'd want to like us but he seems to think we're **** for not being Leeds or QPR, just like everyone in football does.
 
I think Blackpool's coverage this season started exactly the same as ours, the only difference came in the second half of the season when we switched to 4-5-1 and tried to grind out draws, but they carried on going for it.

Agree with you Phil Brown did you no favours at all
 
The thing is though we still don't seem to get credit where it is due. A prime example of this is our away record of 17 games, there was barely any coverage on either the football league show or BBC match reports.

A fair point actually, but they did mention in pretty much every report that we had 'extended our unbeaten away record'. Outside of Hull, nobody's going to give a **** are they.
 
It's interesting how Blackpool got my points than we did in our first season and still got relegated! Blackpool kept on playing attractive football throughout the season and kept their admirers with their never say die spirit. You could argue Holloway was in the media spot light a lot at times, but most people could relate to what he was saying (world cup, Rooney) so didn't come across as too much of an arrogant so and so. Think we still have a lot of winning over to do from how the club was represented from Eastlands in 2008 until the end of our time in the premier league, we got up the arses of so many opposition fans (Arsenal, Blunderland, Newcastle etc) that those who once wished us well were now pleased we were going down. I know when i started uni 18 months ago whenever someone found out i was a Hull fan they would always ask me about half time team talks on the pitch and a media hungry manager, never about winning at the Emirates, drawing at Anfield and running Man U close at Old Trafford. Hopefully with a manager who likes to go about things quietly and a hard working team we may well regain some of those well wishers should we go back up.
 
Mmmmm this is something I have thought for many a year, and not just the footballing club either. It has to be something pretty serious for Hull to get a mention on the TV in general, or something bad. Over the years Hull FC and Hull KR (sorry folks) have had some success but mention Wigan, St Helens, Leeds and you think that its only them in the Rugby League.

There is a joke that Hull is not exactly the end of the earth ....... but you can see it from there, seems to be a given amongst the media people. As for the BBC pundits on M.O.T.D. isn't it about time they were retired, accomplished players they may have been but to spout on about tactics, when only one of them has been a manager, and got relegated at that, is a bit much.
