You’d like to think the owners would give it time. They can’t pretend they didn’t know what they were getting into. Rafa hasn’t exactly changed much over the years! He’s a defensive coach, a very good one at stopping the oppo regardless if its to your taste. He’s effective and with the talent in that squad he will get them 8th-10th, higher with a bit luck. People are banging on about injuries but they’ve got good players.

The fans are powerful now though, owners tend to cave pretty early. Rafa likes his money though so they will be paying him big bucks. Canny sum to be paid if they bullet him. I think he’ll get time, do ok but prob leave in 3yrs when they just get too restless at the style of play.

I would be surprised if Rafa survives this season.
 
Rafa wants to be happy Liverpool showed mercy last night. After the 4th they just played keep ball. If they'd continued to go at them, I wouldn't like to guess what the score could have been.

He can't just keep using injuries as an excuse, the fans aren't stupid. That was the worst Everton display at home to Liverpool in a long long time.

In more positive news for him, no one was really left in the stadium at the end to boo him.

Feels like a Mourinho situation, it’s just everything has left him behind now, time to fade into the sunset like Wenger.

Maybe but I reckon he will still get them into mid table with that squad quite comfortably. He’s really good at stopping teams whether you like watching it or not. The top teams can generally just blow that up now. But others will struggle to have that X factor. Because he plays so tight too, he is decent at putting little runs of positive results together. He’s good at nicking games. So I just think over the course of a full season with those players, I couldn’t see him below 10th-11th. Not pretty, not something to build on but job done generally.

Prior to him arriving Everton have spent some serious £££. Like 100’s of milllions.

So to end up being no further than forward would be a bad thing for them.

Unfortunately for Rafa Everton have spent money on players buy have not raised the general
Income streams to match. So all that investment in players has actually done nothing.

I honestly do think he's just having a bit of a tough run. I genuinely think because of how he sets his team up, eventually with the quality in the squad he has to get results. People were saying this injury or that injury. ****s sake man Digne is a great attacking full back, they Calvert Lewin when fit, Ricarlison is a current brazilian international, Keane has been on the fringe with England for ages, Doucoure was heavily sought after, Pickford is the current England No.1. They've got a great youth system and plenty of solid options throughout the squad. Look at our ****ing squad man, or look around the others like Southampton, Watford, Norwich, Burnley, Palace, Villa, Leeds, Brighton, Wolves - that's 10 clubs you'd say Everton have a better squad than or at least equal too. So there aren't many excuses to be honest. He will get them half way up in my opinion.

Not for me, injuries have left him with a weak side, I expected this at some point this season, they’d be stupid to sack him, as who’s going to replace him and what miracle are they supposed to perform? He needs backing in the summer when the FFP issue has washed through.
In the interim we’ll be in the mix, but once Mina and DCL return I’d expect us to have enough to stay up, if largely off the back off an excellent start.

Your right. But we can’t compare squads. We have been shopping at Poundland while they have been swanking it up at harrods.

I don’t personally think their squad is a top 7-9 squad.

That’s where they are aiming.

Have you had a bad injury crisis? Honest question. DCL is brilliant and I think Richardson was injured aswell. Doucare (is that right?) maybe too.

But the money that has been spent I wonder why there isn’t more quality in reserve?

The spine of the side was missing Mina, Doucoure (who’s now back) and DCL. We’re still missing he who can’t currently be named ffs.

Moshiri has spent £450m of his own dosh so far, and allowed 2 ****e DoF’s (the current one Brands will get sacked imo) and a succession of managers, to spunk huge amounts of cash on over priced, over paid ****e. We’ve cleared much of it out now, but the money was wasted.
