I’m more worried by Eddie Howe sounding like Steve Bruce when talking about getting players in Jan.

Whatever happened to having a manager who works with the players every day, knowing what he needs to progress and have ideas of his own?
    Oh wait , that’s what we’ve got
A Dof yep it’s important for the club in all other departments but to suggest we will be a shambles without one in this transfer window is just not right
Forget the ****ing media, interviews etc EH will know who he needs and what he can get
The club isn’t run by papers, journos and likes on a website, thank god

I think the world of football and how transfer deals happen now is so complex you need someone with the DoF traits.

Eddie can identify what and even who he would like but then it’s up to the clubs staff to make that happen. The DoF role is probably the most important role at any club now because he is supposed to be the link between the manager and players and the people at the top.

Emanalo has done it at a very high level and has a good reputation so I don’t know why we are messing about trying to “get it right” when imo he is the right man right now.

It's all paper talk and the long term plan is uncertain until they know what league they'll be in.

January is about getting in some cloggers to see the club crawl over the line.

Too ****ing right. The likes of these websites and journos can get ****ed - I've seen loads of this drama mongering over the weekend. The fans buying into this bullshit need to give their heads a shake, and stop being so easily led. I think everyone should just chill the **** out on the DOF. Its not critical at this stage and that is a longer term situation. If it happens quickly great, but we've got bigger fish to fry at present. The owners know what is needed and how extensive the work is. We can get deals done without a DOF, of course we ****ing can! Absolute ridiculous to suggest otherwise. We all know what is needed and so does the manager. He has plenty of contacts and connects. Between Eddie and the senior execs left in place at the club, deals can be done. If Emanalo or any other is ready to step in now then great, otherwise we will manage just fine in the short term. The main things is we are gonna be active and we are going to have a go.

As for Rafa as DOF or any role, please FFS will people get over it man <laugh>

Lets move on. I can't think of a worse fit with Eddie at the helm. They are polar opposite in style.

A DoF is important but we can last the season without one. The purchases needed to improve the squad are not exactly massive ones (such is the state of what we have!) I have seen enough from the Brentford match and smatterings in the Arsenal match to see an improvement around the corner. A few decent loan singings will sort us right out. Look at Willock last season!

I seem to remember Rafa saying not so long ago that he wasn’t interested in being a DOF at this stage and still wanted to be a manager.
