AYO Obileye has signed a new deal keeping him at Charlton until 2016. The 20-year-old joined the Addicks in October 2014 after impressing on trial. Obileye was loaned to League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge last season and made 26 appearances, scoring twice.
A one-year deal. Hmmmmm. Suggests they don't know whether or not he'll be good enough, and he won't be a first-choice CB. Any manager wants a settled pairing at CB, so it remains to be seen whether or not he gets a chance.
Then scores his penalty as Southend go up on penalties. Myles Weston and Paul Hayes also scored their penalties.
I only watched the last forty minutes. I don't think Pigott got a clean touch all that time until he scored the equaliser with seconds to go, and a great goal too. Then he was the first to take a penalty which he scored. What I saw of the match the standard was appalling, but the penalties put many Premiership and international teams to shame.
Does anyone know what has become of Archie Edwards? He hasn't featured in any pre-season, and his name did not appear in the squad listed in the program, although he signed a contract last summer. I regard him as a top prospect, so am mystified. Have they sold him on the quiet or what?
You are like a mother hen with our youngsters, Billy. Don't get paranoid, he may just have a knock or strain. He is very slight, so maybe they don't want to risk him in grown-up matches until he toughens up. It is one thing a club like Arsenal bringing on youngsters against skilful players, but teams like Dulwich and Maidstone have a few clodhoppers who could injure him with no malice intended.
A bit sorry to read this; http://www.crewechronicle.co.uk/incoming/crewe-alex-race-sign-charlton-9791281 I hoped he would be in our first-team squad this season. I suppose it does represent progress as he was In Div 2 before, and he will have plenty to do in Crewe's defence. If this happens I revert to my long-standing plea to sign a specialist left-midfielder so Cousins never has to play there. With Fox, Bergdich and Holmes-Dennis that would not have been such a priority. I am also suspicious of RD's motives for putting our English players out on loan. Vol has told us how "sinister" he is.
The U21s won 3-0 at Crewe yesterday with, one from Brandon Hanlan and a brace for Zak Ansah. More information on the U21s, I notice Aribo played again and Josh Staunton has joined on a permanent. http://mobile.cafc.co.uk/news/article/charlton-crewe-alexandra-u21s-report-2613568.aspx
First chance to see the U-18's at Sparrows Lane 11am. Lots of new faces, it will be a very young team, but I expect it must be quite energising for them to see how many Academy products are making a significant contribution to the first team squad.
K.O. was 12 o'clock not 11 as stated on the OS. Then there were no team sheets, which didn't help since there were a lot of newcomers. Despite the 0-2 loss it was an encouraging display by a very young team who will improve as the season goes on.
I was a bit pissed off with the Club. I arrived at the ground at just before 11 and had to wait an hour till kick off. I thought we had all the best chances and were unlucky to lose from a penalty and a breakaway.
A bit harsh on Brum there Dick, their second goal was superb 'one touch' passing down the left hand wing and a clinical finish
It finished Charlton 0 Birmingham 2 at the training ground. Charlton had all of the game but couldn't convert their chances. It was 0-0 at half time. Birmingham came out firing in the second half and got a penalty when the Charlton goalkeeper Callum Thomas misjudged a through ball and went back when he could have cleared it. The second goal came from a breakaway when Charlton were pushing for an equaliser. I can't bring you the team news because there were a number of players i didn't recognise. The players i did recognise were Yao, Konsa, Bone, C. Thomas, Lookman and Lapslie all played well. Yes but i am a Charlton fan and i do not see any good from the opposition. All Hell..
They forgot about Summer Time. No Summer Time here in the Dominican Republic. It is always summer. But I once missed an hour of a Charlton match when I forgot about the changeover in the UK. Thanks to Dick and AllHell for their news of the u18s. I shall check on the OS next month to see if they have posted a report by then.
