As someone on TV said this morning great teams are greater than the sum of their parts.
I said about Ramsey in discussions a long time ago that Ramsey was the only one who decided on the way he was going to play and picked the players he thought would suit it best. Would a Blackpool, Fulham or Huddersfield player be in the team nowadays? Jack Charlton was picked late on in his career to do a job, No one else thought he was anEngland player. Same with Stiles, got the fewest caps of any World Cup Winner but was there to do a job. He put Hurst in when Greaves, our greatest goal scorer at top flight level, was injured and because it worked stuck with him. Ramsey also used players in similar roles they fulfilled at club level. Spain have players playing to a similar system they do at club level.
We try to put players in the side because they are good at club level then ask them to play in a diff ent postition as to what they do all season.

Only one criticism, and it's strictly on a personal point of view,I think we are 'good enough' and that in turn has fired the frustration,anger and disbelief that has followed this result and many others over the years under a boring twat of an England coach.
He's underachieved/underachieving and he's now torn apart a very good English squad and replaced proven big match talent with up and coming(form) players due to his own arrogance...Because he can,because he believes himself to be bullet proof,because he believes in his own hype?
Rashford and Grealish were established parts in this England machine,they could be called upon to come on and put their bodies on the line for the cause...He's sacrificed that for players with little or no experience at this level,players who could freeze in the magnitude of this event?
Bellingham is a jewel,he was imperious in the first half of match one,so was Saka.Foden could be dropped into just about any squad in this tournament and shine like a Diamond...You don't become a dud over night.
I too hope there are some harsh words, big changes,and players are finally given a chance to shine in their natural positions,hopefully we can then finally click and show some English pride in this tournament...
Anything less is abject failure and should automatically signal the end of this buffoonery.

I thought the tone of it was getting a bit stuck in to Kane to be honest. But he’s getting bashed up and down right now, it’s just insane. I can agree that we could set up better to make better use of him. A good manager makes the most of what he’s got. It’s something that Southgate has managed to get correct very well in his 3 major tournaments prior to this, so it’s a bit surprising that he would change course now and start using players in a way that doesn’t really suit them.
Either way performances this far have been poor, hopefully there is much better to come. Fingers crossed the typical England curse isn’t catching up to the current set up.

It's not about player A is better than player B C or D we have a squad of good players as they have shown for their respective clubs. We are lacking team spirit and putting to much into playing styles and formations etc. It's not a game of chess.
