Yes, indeed....I recall him saying that on MOTD. And every time he's said it again the team in question have got relegated...He's about as much use as Septic Peg was at trying to predict the lottery results.
****e performance on and off the ball again. After the Iceland friendly I said it was uncharacteristic of us to be poor in possession and in pressing but that's now been the case three games in a row. Concerning to say the least. Some people will say it's typical England or typical Southgate, but we were miles better than this at the last two tournaments. Only player I can be arsed to talk about is Bellingham. He's the golden boy, and rightly so, but he like many was poor today, and I've noticed in both games he has a bad habit of taking absolutely ages to get back involved again after a run or a challenge takes him out of position or onto the floor. There was one in the first half where he made a run, the ball was overhit and he couldn't reach it. Denmark restarted and about thirty seconds later they were probing the edge of the box and Bellingham was still out of shot on the TV, just not involved at all, leaving us playing 10v11 for a bit. And we wonder why we get penned into our own half. He's a supreme talent, but he really doesn't need habits like that.
100% correct. Having seen the likes of Spain, France, Holland, Turkey and Romania in this tournament we're no where near as good as them at playing at a constant high tempo. They're more direct, get the ball down the channels with pace and ask questions. We play a stop start pattern with players who are out of position. Trent Alex-Arnold is a right full back ffs... Foden is not a wide player. Our style means we stop then get easily out muscled and over run. Having seen todays performance I'm even fearful of getting turned over by Slovenia.
It sounds like I got lucky came to watch the game using a VPN, but for some reason wouldn't allow saying because I was outside the country So went to bed, waking up to hear it was ****e, and we were lucky to get the draw.
This doesn’t get talked about enough. Clearly he’s a very talented young player but he has the habit of going missing in big games. He is only 20 and is massively hyped so perhaps people’s expectations of him are too high, but he does seem immune from criticism. Keeping him on yesterday but bringing Foden and Saka off shows we’re willing to bend over backwards for him at the expense of the team.
On a side note, which muppet at the bbc decided to employ richards as a pundit?....second worst tv pundit ever
My Mum hated that I always supported England over Germany but that was always going to be the case as I always watched it with my Dad. Mum was from Monchengladbach, although her Dad was from Strasbourg and was half French on his Mother’s side. I was always told that part of my maternal family originated from Holland, which wouldn’t be a surprise as MG is so close to the border but I haven’t had the time to explore that yet. The surprising thing is that my DNA profile shows me having 16% Scottish (4% maternal side) and 10% Welsh (all maternal), so that should make for some interesting discoveries once I retire and have the time to look into it. It certainly won’t make we want to support either of them though!
It isn’t Rosieball though is it. The problem was we kept giving the ball away and often from Pickford launching the ball aimlessly forward. How is that the same? Virtually every team plays out from the back to some degree these days but depending on the quality of the players available and the tactics employed, it can have varying degrees of success or failure. I don’t understand why we can’t seem to move on from this.
Don't often comment on games and performances and stuff like that as mostly it's just differing opinions. However, why are we playing so ****e? We have good players who can and do perform for their clubs, bring them together and they look like a pub team. I did say a few weeks ago about giving new players their debut in games just before the tournament, we need the same players working together as much as possible like a club team. And then there is the lack of motivation, passion and drive, the team spirit just doesnt seem to be there.
Southgate needs to be sacked before the knockouts get someone in quick and give them the Slovenia game to evaluate.
Not the worst idea in the world. In isolation a 1 v 1 draw against Denmark isn't a bad result as the are a good team . It's the lack of cohesion that is startling . It's back decades where they wait to receive the ball before deciding what to do . Watching the speed and width that Spain played with last night is a stark contrast
Not going to happen.....Knowing the FA Southy will get a contract extension....... Sir Alf Ramsey said he won the 1966 world cup with players who were NOT the best XI, but players who were the best in that position. I sort of know what he meant...Perhaps someone in the FA should tell Southgate....Stop playing players out of position and pick the best in that slot...But the truth is we're not good enough, over hyped and arrogant...The media idiots don't help... Ferdinand, Shearer etc....talking of winning 3 and 4 nil against decent teams, therefore giving Joe Public higher expectations of success...Then Ferdinand's got the bottle to lay into the team.......I called it pre tournament ..England will struggle...Sadly I'm taking some credit for that prediction, but God Willing we'll come good.
Doesn't surprise me in the least....Same old bullshit....You'll start to hear the excuses once they're out.....Like politicians who'll tell you any old **** to get a vote...
England have never won a trophy in colour tv Big teams like denmark etc have So a draw is a good result i think
Harry Kane. Serbia decided to overload the marking on him, then quickly realised it was a simple one man job. Denmark decided right from the off one was more than sufficient. Proved right from the kick off. Ball played back to Pickford, hoofed to Kane who made no effort to win the ball or make a nuisance of himself. The rest of the game he shuffled about like an arthritic pensioner on his way to the shops for his morning paper. What is the point of crying out for pace out wide when you have a sloth playing? Ambling about getting in everyones way. Then re-invents himself as a left full back and clears a ball upfield to the centre forward, perhaps a genuine lapse that he was supposed to be that centre forward. I did include him in my bet to provide an assist, just not for the Danes. Yes, yes, once again he scored. BUT just what his huge goal haul brought in the way of team trophies? Bellingham for Alexander-Arnold. Foden as 10 Gordon on the left Watkins for Kane. And hope Shaw recovers overnight. Piece of piss this managerial lark. Just need the balls to bench the leading goalscorer and captain.
