He's younger than Barmby and he still does a job for us.

I think he'll only be used in certain circumstances, he's not going to be in the starting XI and I don't think it's that big a deal.

...

We should only sign players who are going to improve the team, we need a big target man and we can do far better than Adebola.

He's 36 in a few weeks, the more I think about it, the more likely I think it is that this story is probably bollocks.

Huh.

Anyway, disappointing signing that probably suggests we'll continue hoofing it up the field for another season.

I share you opinion that he's a disappointing signing, but in my opinion he won't actually change the style of the team.

We're all presuming he'll mainly be used as an impact substitution. So we'll end up starting with Fryatt and Simpson/McLean again, playing the same style of football as last season. It wasn't hoofball, but it wasn't exactly scintillating stuff.

A creative midfield player would be high on my list of potential signings

would you like to sign me Mr. Pearson
52 goals in 25 appearances for the U16 'mighty' wyke league team.
I could put in a better shift than Adebola.

Please note before some 'scrotum' attempts to down this comment it was simply a mild to moist comment on the sour situation of signing 'Del Boy'

Sounds like you'd offer more to the team than the big man from Nigeria my friend!

I coached a team in last seasons U16 Wyke league :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I'd got used to the idea between then and now and I'm at least a little relieved about the comments of the Forest fans(after all, they know far more about him than we do).

It's far from being an exciting signing and I'd have rather seen us sign Iwelumo, but we knew about this signing weeks ago now, there's no point in getting in a flap about it all over again.

It seems obvious now, that having bunged in £40m and spent/bid almost another £5m since taking over, the Allam's have decided to draw the line. That leaves us with frees and loans, unless that is, we can get rid of the five players that are currently using up half our entire wage bill.

Having had the discussion about Josh King on the other thread Adebola's signing might be tolerable if he's coming in as a player-coach on a low wage to try and help the inexperianced King (or other similar loan signing).

Nigel Pearson is building a new squad, in that squad we need different types of players to what we had at the end of last season. He has brought Adebola in as a different option to what we've had since Jon Parkin was here, an old fashioned centre forward. Adebola's gonna be cheap to pay, could even be on a pay as you play deal. Maybe these first few signings are the ones Adam Pearson said wouldn't excite the fans. As we know NP likes using the loan market, maybe the best signings will be left til last??

Around the same time "young and hungry" did.

Was that around the same time that 532 and 451 were transformed into 352 and 433 to sound more attacking just because it was teams like Chelsea playing them instead of being the reserve of the like of Bolton?

I have it on good authority Adebola and McKenna are the exciting signings and the non-exciting signings are still to come.

Still, as we all know, they can be relied upon to do a job!

I have heard for a "big lad he is surprisingly good with his feet", we just need to set out our stall though dont we!
