Imagine being Lee Johnson and not wanting him back man <doh> Look at the positive impact it’s had on the club already, it’s given everyone a massive boost.

Really mental. And that, after sacking a bloke who was current manager of the month!?!

Mind, if I'm not mistaken, we also once sacked a manager after getting beat on the pools panel!

This is true. In fairness Bob Murray knew Crosby was not a manager and only appointed him due to media pressure. He was always going to use the chance possible to sack him

Aye. Think he was waiting for the chance earlier, but we kept winning cup games!

A lot has been said about tactics and, of course, that's all important.

But imagine being a L1 defender having to mark a Stewart/Defoe partnership, and imagine how Stewart will be feeling this morning ...

... he's either going to have a top ex-England striker pulling defenders out of shape or having him as an understudy <laugh>

Sacking Johnson should have been done before Christmas, I think we all know that. This past few weeks has just confirmed to the owners that LJ was not the person to take us up culminating in Saturdays abject performance.
Whether we go up now as automatic (I still think we've blown that) there are still 16 games that will keep us in the playoffs provided we get the right replacement in. The owners, by biting the bullet and firing LJ have given themselves breathing space and the chance to consolidate our position and settle the team down to reach the playoffs, final and hopefully promotion..
They ultimately saw the collapses under LJ and the destruction of our team last saturday that LJ was incapable of doing anything about it.. Credit to KLD for having the balls to fire the man. Let us hope ,when it comes around to doing the same to the next manager should results not be as they should be, the management act sooner.

I agree with some of what you say, but tell me who was the last manager to have a percentage win rate as good as Johnson.

I am pleased that we have Defoe, as I think we will score goals.... not sure how many?

Hopefully Broadhead will return soon anyhow.

We first of all have to cement our place in the play-offs and if Wigan/Rotherham be ready to step up...ie get automatic promotion.

So when is the new manager arriving? and who is he/(she) going to be?

The stumbling block maybe the fact Keane has less control.

Started writing this last night but didn't finish. I was going to go on and say if Keane is happy to work this way then his wow factor could be enough to catapult us again, the bloke is a winner and passionate about the club etc.

I've just woke up to yet another txt off my lad "Keane new manager" .

Little fùckwit was messing obviously but whilst I was scrambling to Google "Sunderland" the hairs stood up on the back of my neck, my eyes began to well and a mass of pride at the thought of Keane and Defoe coming back suddenly dawned on me.
Yes Defoe is 39, but he's still fit and he proved a real positive influence on Maja etc.
Yes Keane hasn't bothered much and sold his soul to punditry and shìt adverts lately. But he's Roy Maurice Keane FFS and we're in league 1.

    @C Montgomery Burns
I respect your views in an earlier post and you may be right. But I want Keane back alongside Defoe for that nostalgia and for the positivity. For the massive lift it will give me and I bet most fans.
And the influence and wealth of experience they both bring to the club.
We need a lift right now, especially after the last debacle. Let's inject some pride back and a kick up the arse from Roy Keane.

I bet little Bradley Lowrey is looking down pleased as punch with Defoe signing :)

That would be Parkinson based on projecting the number of games he had as opposed to Johnson.. Not mathematically inclined to work out the percentage but I suspect it would b Parky... Johnson could not be allowed to continue going the way he was. 5 wins in 22 games?????

Scoring the winning goal at Wembley in your last game would be perfect. I personally don't want to go anywhere near that place again.

Nowt in it between him and Jack Ross by what I have just read. 50.7 Jack Ross and 51.3 Lee Johnson.

Quick edit: Jack Ross probably did better considering he had less defeats.
