With regards jayc's post, Windass says the article/interview is a cry for help, not just for him but for other players in that situation so I don't think you saying that is anything to be worried about getting a flaming for.

I thought the selling of the medals though was a charity thing?

I don't know where the article posted on the thread is from, but the BBC website version also says it's because his 18 year marriage has broken down and his dad recently died as well as the missing playing (and much lower income to adjust to as a result)

Ill take you to task on the advice of keeping your mouth shut if you dont understand depression

It wasnt long ago that i and probably the majority of other thought people would "snap out of it"
or advice like "cheer up" , "look on the bright side" are word cure alls.

Nobody is an expert on depression , people become expert in the symptoms.
Since i was stupid enough to ask question on depression not too long ago ive been educated by it and no longer
would i expect someone to "just snap out of it"

i am at pains to say i agree. As i said previously, he needs to get as far away from Hull and any temptation. He needs family support and a coaching role at Farsley Celtic for instance to get his career back on the rails

It does my head in when people try to commit suicide or when they do actually kill themselves .. BUT then I know nothing of what depression is like ! Sad story and let's hope everything will work out ok in the end...

the people article very probably paying for his rehab. Time for the PFA to show their metal instead of supporting wasters like salary stealing smack-rats and Argentinian liars who have no other interests than themselves!

Maybe Deano could not fit in around the club because of the problems he has had. Lets face it he needs help now and then a job.
He does have a point but will not earn sympathy from many who see the amount of money he has squandered on his lifestyle, as thats life Im afraid.
Bit off topic but related, I sat in a cafe yesterday taking a break from work (missed the game) when I got accused of being middle class. Why because I mentioned that I wanted to go on holiday to Poland!!!!

I had a freind who commited suicide because of depression, he left kids and family. At his funeral service I was amazed at how many freinds and aquaintences turned out hundreds of them. I then thought what a shame that he knew all those people but he couldnt talk to any of us of his illness/problems.

Dean through his atempted suicide, whether a cry for help or not, it made aware that he has an illness and needs help. He has took the biggest step of his recovery chances by telling every one of his problem. I dont know what Deans needs are, I dont know if a role in the club will help him, but I know that now people who can help him know of his illness that he will get the help he desperaty needs.

It may be a long road for Dean to get where he wants to be, but he took his biggest step by telling us of his illness, I wish him and anyone else suffering depression well, and hope they find that life is a great thing to live whatever it may give or take from us.

The trouble with the word depression is it is bandied about too easily without a proper understanding of its real meaning. I hope Windass is genuine in this revelation. He states he tried to commit suicide just over a week ago. He was at the Ipswich game a day or so later drunk in the bar with Ashbee.
It sounds like he is having trouble adjusting to a normal life and has begged for a job with City but with Dean you do wonder if its more about him than anything else. Nick may be wise to keep him at arms length. A job coaching the youth set up would seem ideal to me, but Dean may think thats beneath him or agitate after awhile for a bigger role at the club. We saw with the premiership how he couldnt see the bigger picture.

It's not likely he'd turn it round instantly on making the revelation, but as it's a Sunday paper could it have been edited before printing to bring the timescales inline? ie he did the interview on Tuesday/Wednesday and said "On Saturday night..." and the paper has edited it for Sunday to "just over a week" because by the time it's published it is just over a week ago.

Surely there is someone at the club who can see all he needs is to feel involved with football, if not he'll go the same way as Gazza.

    Do Hull City owe him?
Maybe not, but he's one of ours and I'd hope that Mr Allam will see this as a great opportunity to get him on the staff in some capacity when he's sorted himself out.

I know Deano is after a job as he is solely dependant on his £200 a week from Scarboro, and has been asking for work in certain areas. What do you think of an idea that ive come up with to give him a job in the Hull City circa. Deano could be a KC Stadium tour guide - with city upgrading the current tour to include a film sitting - the History of Hull City ( from the beginning to current , with highlights of going up to the prem) Surely he desrves some kind of role in Hull City.??????

Also could be included in the tour is a photo momento with Deano?

I'd be very shocked if we dont give him some sort of role at city. Whether thats working with the youth team or reserves or whatever... Pearson is talking about having staff that are from the area who care about the club... thats Deano !

and whether his suicide attempts are a cry for help or something more serious... it seems only right for the club to give him support in whatever way possible.

I think he needs to concentrate on sorting himself out, before he worries about working anywhere.

I still can't believe it, of all the people Deano would not even have entered my head as being vunerable to depression.
Just shows don't it when a series of events all add up how it can **** up everything.
